Excellent chilling story with great narration

I really liked this book. A small number of teenagers sheltering in an abandoned school after some for of dystopian event get to survive against Vampires and werewolves. James Brown has produced an excellent story with super strong characters. The hero, the leader, the psychopath, the obsessive compulsive and the traumatised child, the characters all work together to.make a compelling story. It is the first of a trilogy so ends on a cliffhanger which in this case works well. The narration is great Kerr Lordygan does a superb job bringing the the story to life and each character even the creatures there own personality. Love the Bad moon rising lyrics. I received a complimentary copy from the Author and am leaving a honest voluntary review.

Captivating short story

If you like a horror fantasy set in a post apocalyptic world, I can recommend this short story. The tempo of the story is perfect, writing truly excellent, and once you start listening to this book, you’ll want to hear ‘what’s next’. Luckily, there is a second book already available, which is also a short story, and I’m waiting for the third one to come along as soon as possible! Even though the story is quite short, it’s long enough to experience a good world building and to start caring about the characters. The characters are very individual and I would like to hear more from where they come from and how they’ve initially survived the savages of their new world. Thank you!

A Cracking Good Read...

What I really liked about this book was the power of the descriptive storytelling, in my mind’s eye I could visualise what the author describing in the book and it really brought to life the dystopian nightmare backdrop of the world inhabited by Nicholas and his comrades.
The book goes at a cracking rate from start to finish and I had to keep stopping, as the tension built up and I couldn’t handle the level of blood-curdling tension in one swoop.
Intense, eerie and very violent, I loved it!

Not for me

A bunch of children try to survive plagued lands while being hunted by creatures that go bump in the night.

Unfortunately, I could not get into this story at all and DNF. I also wasn't a fan of the narrators' theatrical narration. It was funny that Lordygan would shout in a big booming deep adult voice, when the character was clearly a very young child. Definitely a book for a young audience.
