Summary

Merisande has returned home to heal from her harrowing ordeal in the fae kingdom. Sir Avry continues to write to her in the hope that he can spark a romance between them. Meanwhile, the king appoints Avry as his successor. Avry has no choice but to accept the title of king-in-waiting, despite his fear that it’ll ruin his chances with free-spirited Merisande.

His personal issues are soon pushed aside when an old enemy returns, bent on destruction. The fae king, having survived the ruin of his kingdom, has sworn revenge and sends The White, a giant, shape-shifting bird, to attack Avry’s people.

The White has been subjected to centuries of mistreatment by her handlers, known as binders. And the danger she poses cannot be understated. As Avry desperately tries to find a way to save his people from the evils of the fae king, Merisande’s sudden disappearance only adds to his worries. But soon an unexpected ally appears as the fae prince returns from afar, intent on righting his father’s wrongs.

Has he come in time? Or has his father unleashed a power that threatens to destroy their world forever?

Not as enjoyable as book 1

I just could not get into this sequel at all, mostly due to the narrator, he is slow and dull, the story itself is just an entertaining as the first I'm sure but the narrator made it all sound so dull.

I received my copy free of charge in exchange for an honest review.

Gripping

Fantastic! What a wonderful love story entwined in adventure, anticipation and doubt. My ears missed the womans voice that narrated the first book but soon it did not matter and later i felt it was definitely fitting for n man to narrate this one. A great sequel ending perfectly!

White Bird.

I was given a free copy of this book and I'm leaving an honest.
This 2nd book flows nicely from the first book Beneath the Roots.
Very engaging and thoroughly enjoyable, once again brilliantly written, the story keeps you entertained and the characters are just as good as the first book.
The narration is really good again making the whole experience all the more enjoyable.

Great book

Loved the second book, it didn't disappoint with the returning characters and their story. Loved the book and it was a shame it had to end. Tim the narrator kept the story alive.

White Bird

White Bird, good storyline and well-narrated but it does go on a bit and a little slow on the action, I enjoyed listening to White Bird but to be honest it's not a book I would listen to again 4/5

Thoroughly enjoyed!!

Great follow up to the first book!
This book did have a different narrator, Tim Dixon but he did a splendid job! The only downfall is that I stayed up entirely too late because I could not stop listening to it! I’m not extremely tired.
You too will not want to put the book down or should I say, take the headphones off?

The second awesome instalment

Really enjoyed the first book and this one was really good as well. I like the unpredictable nature of the storyline and the strong female character. This one features a giant bird, an assassin, two sick kings and the dreaming place. A sequel not to be missed.

An exciting sequel to Beneath the Roots!

Mer is home with her loving father and brother, recovering from the horrific experiences she endured while in the fae kingdom. Sir Avry is kept far from her as the king engages him in duties aimed to keep him close and to keep him safe. The king's legitimate successor would not rule the kingdom well, so he intends to select Sir Avry as his successor.

Avry fears that the very independent Mer would resist marrying him as king. His life is at risk too. Some would stop at absolutely nothing to preserve the traditional line of succession. Then the crazed fae king unleashes a fearsome and colossal White Bird to exact revenge on the kingdom. Mer gets swept away through this conflict. Avry is once again driven to find and rescue the woman he loves.

I loved this book! I was longing for Mer's family to be lifted out of their utter poverty. I could barely stand the sadness in Avry, loving someone he feared he could never have. The back story of The White Bird and the centuries of her mistreatment was heartbreaking. The political intrigue and shocking back-stabbing was riveting. The father-son-like-love between Avry and the king was touching.

The ending was a-m-a-z-i-n-g! There was a satisfying and exultant climax to the story. Bravo to W.K. Greyling!

Great continuation

I really enjoyed book one and book two kept me engaged and entertained. The details pave the way to a vivid ride of adventure and romance. Start with book one and your guaranteed to enjoy White Bird. The narration was very good and fitting.

Great fantasy, cute romance

I enjoyed reading this book. The world it took place on was interesting and the characters were realistic.

Between this book and the first, I enjoyed the romance between the main characters. It was a slow burn, but very fulfilling in the end.

The narrator changed for this book and I ended up liking this narrator, it took me a while to get used to it, I think because I had gotten used to the first narrator.

I enjoyed this and will continue to read this author!

Wow! Loved it.

I enjoyed this book better than book one. I loved how Tim H. Dixon brought Sir Avry to life in a whole different way for me. This book was so well written, I can't wait to hear more from K Greyling.

Couldn't put this book down

W. K. Greyling has knocked it out of the park with this one! I could not put it down nor did I want to. The love story of course grows and the fighting increases. I love how it is all tied back to families and the unseen bond that families have, I can't wait for the next one to become available. I will be the first in line!
