About this listen

Best-selling author Stephanie Laurens begins a promising new series that blends romance and mystery.

Penelope Ashford, Portia Cynster's younger sister, has devoted her life to the care of orphans. But lately, her charges seem to be disappearing without a trace. Penelope enlists investigator Barnaby Adair to solve the mystery. Adair agrees, intrigued by both the case and by Penelope.

Initially, I purchased the abridged version of this novel. Whilst I quite enjoyed it, there was something missing. This unabridged version included all the ‘missing ‘ bits and was very much better as a result!

Brilliant!

Love Stephanie Laurens' books! A total guilty pleasure.
Simon prebble is by far and away the best narrator of her works, bringing all characters to life and reading in a very natural, flowing way... the pronunciation, inflections and even characterisation is perfect!
There was an issue with the recording/editing about 6 minutes into chapter 21, where some of the story is missing!

Excellent story narrator, but issue with recording

Like the story and the narration is excellent, but there is a large chunk missing from chapter 21, where it just skips forward to a completely different scene

I enjoyed this book, except for the fault. The story suddenly jumped in Chapter 21. The location changed and the narrator came back in mid paragraph further into the story. Such an obvious break I can't believe it wasn't picked up.

Both protagonists are originals who are ultimately suitable for each other.

The situation that brings them together is both credible and interesting.

Beautifully narrated, with all of the characters portrayed really well. I look forward to the next in the series which, along with this title was free I. The Audible Plus Catalogue.

Beautifully Credible
