I really like Mark Edwards and have got quite into his books recently.

This book wasn’t as good for me as his others. The story just didn’t really seem to evolve and it sort of just fizzled through with nothing really happening.

I would definitely recommend Mark Edwards as he is a great writer but I would start with something else like ‘The Magpies’.

I really like Mark Edwards but this wasn’t his best.

This, the fourth novel by Mark Edwards I've purchased from Audible was another nail-biting treat for the ears. The plot centres around Hastings-based regional newspaper photographer Richard Thompson (yet another character named after a musician, which is a feature of many an Edwards book) meets the beautiful, young and mysterious Marie on a hilltop. He's investigating and documenting alleged alien sightings in the sky over the South Coast; Marie, and her two companions, form part of a small cell of believers. Richard soon falls in love with the enigmatic Marie, who introduces him to the phenomenon of 'visitors' from other planets. All is not as it appears though and Marie's disappearance invokes a series of events which Richard must work through to discover the truth.

Did I enjoy this book? Absolutely - yes, it was classic Edwards in my opinion and contained all of his trademarks - geeky guy whom women wish to seduce!?; Internet trails; seedy goings on and most of all - an attractive flame haired heroine. I was drawn into the story and although it was slightly ridiculous at times, it remained entertaining throughout.

I have now purchased one of Edwards' collaborations with fellow author Louise Voss. I hope it's as good as all of his other work.

A gripping book about obsession. It's well paced and intriguing. I thought narration was good, bringing to life this complex group of people.

I have recently discovered Mark Edwards and have loved the tense anxious feeling I get with previous novels like Magpies follow me home etc but this novel is off on a tangent and for me weaker for it.

bit of a slow burner to be honest

I dont usually find this type of book interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a format that I like with a beginning middle and an end. It is therefore refreshing to read this book with. Not to many characters, and the ones on the page you can relate too.
