Summary

"If you and your prospective partner adopt the principles and skills I describe here, your relationship will be successful - not just for starters, but for the long run."

An indispensable guide for any couple ready to set the foundation for a loving and lasting union.

Committing fully to a loving partnership - a "we" - can be one of the most beautiful and fulfilling experiences you'll ever have. Yet as anyone in a long-term relationship will tell you, it can also be one of the most challenging. Almost half of all first marriages end in divorce, and chances go down from there. So how do you beat the odds?

"All successful long-term relationships are secure relationships," writes psychotherapist Stan Tatkin. "You and your partner take care of each other in a way that ensures you both feel safe, protected, accepted, and secure at all times."

In We Do, Tatkin provides a groundbreaking guide for couples. You'll figure out whether you and your partner are right for each other in the long term, and if so, give your relationship a strong foundation so you can enjoy a secure and lasting love.

Info great but awful narration

I have decided to return this audiobook as I am just not able to "sit" through it. After the first 10 minutes I was calling the friend who recommended it to me to see how she got through it. After talking to her I listened to the Goop podcast featuring this book and it was amazing Dr Tatkin is great to listen to. I gave it another chance and tried to listen to the info and ignore the reader - I just cannot do it any longer. I have given it almost 2 hours of my time and just can't anymore. Sorry! If another narration come available (especially if Dr Tatkin himself narrates it) I will get it.

Excellent book with poor narration

As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I find Stan Tatkin's work to be indispensable for couples I see in my practice. The information he presents is both psychoeducational and deeply relatable. I read the hard copy of "Wired for Love" and "Relationship Rx" and listened to his audiobook "Your Brain on Love", which he narrates. I chose to purchase this book in audio form due to a love for the quality of his voice as presented in "Your Brain on Love" and for the success I have had prescribing it as audio homework for couples I work with (couples report that they enjoy listening to it together more than reading a book simultaneously).

Well, my impulsive purchase proved to be a terrible mistake. Only after downloading the book did I see it was narrated by someone else. That would have been only mildly disappointing had the quality of the narration not been so bad; it is robotic and repetitive, incapable of capturing the attention that the material requires. I ended up not be going any further with the audio book and purchased the hard copy. Excellent book and a welcomed addition to his previous work. I wish Stan would narrate his own books (I see he has only narrated the one I mentioned above) but if he cannot, I hope his publishers can find a narrator that can represent the material a bit better.

Great content

Good content, however I wish Dr Tatkin would narrate himself. When he speaks himself, it’s clear the material is coming from the heart and it’s easier for the listener to connect.

Must to read before getting married

Love all Dr.Tatkin books! It must read for everyone before or after marriage. Everyone thinks love and romantic come naturally like in the movies. The Good relationship did come naturally. Usually, you have to work for and educate herself.
Wonderful book!
