Summary

A killer in the wilderness.

Forensic anthropologist Caitlin Fleming knows bones. So she is the first one called when seven sets of skeletal remains are found dumped in a makeshift graveyard in the Oregon wilderness. The skeletons bear the same distinctive marks - and each is minus a skull.

Cait needs outdoor guide Zach Sharper for one reason only - to help her find her way through the Willamette Forest as she pieces together clues. Despite the attraction that burns between them, Cait will let nothing shake her focus. Until the killer closes in to terminate the search - and the investigators on the verge of unmasking him...

Spoilt by intolerable female voice

I really like Kylie Brants’ work and was looking forward to this one. However I am unable to listen past chapter six. For some odd reason the narrator (whom I have enjoyed in many other book choices) uses a really weird tone for the female lead. So much so I can’t listen anymore. Such a shame!

Steady quality decrease

Third book in the series, pattern is starting to be boring. Still better than your average rom suspense, the cases are pretty interesting. However, despite the supposed brilliance of the protagonists, the bad guy is not found but shows himself. Otherwise two damaged people brooding and initially bickering. At about halfway mark they have sex, and become serious almost instantly. The narrator does a good job in general, but in this book is trying with a sultry voice for the heroine, which is more creepy than sexy.

Narration

Pimchot usually does an admirable job even with females. This is the second series I've read with him narrating. But what the heck is this??? Kate's voice is so breathy and quiet relative to all other characters that I feel like I need to increase the volume each time she speaks. Only on 4th chapter and might have to skip this one!

If you like Soft porn with a side of a mystery these books are for you

I feel embarrassed for Bronson Pinchot. I would be humiliated having to read the overly descriptive sex encounters, which happens at least three times per book. As much as Kylie uses intelligent female main characters, it is minimized by the need to have them “hook up” with lead the male character I. Every book. This will be the last book I listen to by mrs Brant. I have read enough thrillers and books of various genres to know that pornographic sex is not needed to make a good book.

Good all the way

Great all the way through. Slowly leading up to whodunnit and you don’t see it coming till near the end.

Loved It

Easy listen, enough intrigue mixed with romance to fully satify any reader. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

Terrible Narration!

I am skipping this book after an hour. The voice of the female lead is so breathy and creepy, not sexy at all. I just can't get past it...on to book 4 in the series.

Good series

I recently discovered this series while looking through titles included in my membership and definitely recommend 👌. Entertaining for anyone who's a fan of Criminal Minds (with the occasional harlequin romance-style hookup lol).

I've listened to books 1-3, the 3rd is my least favorite so far but still good.

Overall I like this narrator, he does a good job distinguishing one character from another. My only criticism would be in his voices for the main female character, he tends to start off sounding really monotone and slightly slow, like she'd taken a handful of ambien lol. Give him a chance though, he "warms up" after a while, or I got used to it, very entertaining regardless!

Narrators getting annoying

I'm hooked on the Mindhunters Series. Love them! However, the narrator's impression of the female investigators is driving me nuts. Nevermind, it's nearly impossible to hear what he's (she's) saying, but the fact he has these women talking like they're whispering is absurd. These are extremely strong, independent, intelligent and confident women. None who would walk around whispering...

Good one!

Kylie Brandt's Mindhunters series does not disappoint. The plot is so good I don't mind the sex scenes too much. And the narrator was decent.
