About this listen

Casting necromancy without ever learning how to isn't supposed to be possible.

A starving orphan girl named Vita is somehow managing it anyway, and she's not sure if this is going to be the solution to her life's problems or a horrifying, spiraling mess of problems she can hardly conceive.

Set in a massive world of floating islands with a dangerous entity known as the Mistwatcher that lurks beneath them, Vigor Mortis pairs adorable charm with haunting fantasy.

Frankly, I am amazed at how good this story was.

It is the oddest mix of a heartfelt, underdog, coming of age story, of a cute psychopath, with eldritch elements.

In addition, we get to explore a rich and amazingly bizarre world alongside a set of well developed characters.

The only slights I have against this audiobook is that the narrator does not make it easy to distinguish between the 'inner' dialogue (of which there is a lot) and 'spoken' dialogue. Also, the editing sometimes allows too much time between words leaving you to think a sentences is over when it is not, and breaking the story telling flow. The thick U.S. accent may also annoy some listeners.

All in all, I can wholeheartedly recommend this book for fantasy fans.

Wholesome, Endearing, but also Horror

As the title says, story outstanding, performance outstanding. not often I'm blown away like this!

I really liked this especially at the start. I didn't like the turn and continual emphasis on humanising various monsters though. It got a bit samey. The main character's lack of social skills were a bit frustrating too. However, overall the plot and narration were good.

Really good

A great listen . The narration was excellent and the writing a lot of fun . I couldn't find out much about the author , but this doesn't feel like a first book . Well worth the listen

A lot of fun

I was blown away by this, went in not knowing what to inspect and was more then pleasantly surprised. one of my favourite discoveries on audible. The occasional unexpected pause could be noticed a few times but not nearly enough to impact my review.

Looking forward to volume 2.
