Summary

Vampires can’t levitate. At least that’s what Dante Gabriel always thought, until he finds himself floating above his bed along with his lover, Erin Hamilton. As he continues to exhibit unusual powers, more memories from his time in captivity surface, leaving him fearing what he might have done while imprisoned. When a new and unexpected temptation arises, he finds himself unable to resist.

Erin aches for Dante and wants more than anything for him to find peace. As they uncover clue after clue in their attempt to find the missing women and solve the puzzle of Dante’s past, she is more determined than ever to put an end to their struggle, even if it means putting herself in harm’s way.

After an ominous visit with Bea, the voodoo priestess, Dante knows what he must do, and he must do it alone. First, though, he will make Erin truly his and take the sustenance he needs to get him through his next battle. But will his love for her be enough to save him when his nemesis is finally unmasked?

getting more interesting as it goes along.

both narrators do a good job of voicing the different characters. story keeps you on your toes and hard to decipher the mystery. fun to see how theories pan out.

Story sucks

This story sucks big time. The plot is decent, but the story is so slow. In the past 12 books all that has happened is the guy vamp has escaped a dungeon/prison where he was held captive, met a girl he loves, drake with dumb family drama and is going back to the prison to save his sister and uncle. Oh and a lot of very graphic and terrible sex scenes. The main characters are awful. The girl is whiny and dumb, the guy is a narcisit. The author tried to write about a sub/dom sexual partnership, but failed miserably as the dom is more of a rapist who feels like he owns his gf. The sub girl just seems too dumb to realize that the relationship is unhealthy and her bf is more into getting what he wants and pretending that he is a good guy.

Make it stop

This series could have been much shorter if every book didn’t contain chapters and chapters of everyone arguing with Bill about what’s in the “book”. Too repetitive. Also, this female narrator is the worst at the intimate scenes. I fast forward every scene. Reads too fast, no pauses, and it sounds like reading not narrating.

Love the story being told.

Sometimes I get a little distracted when the narrators change. That’s the only thing that bothers me. And then it’s a little difficult to figure out which book is next in the series. But I’m enjoying following Donte and Erin’s story of finding out the truth.
