About this listen

'Annalie Howling delivers a masterpiece in self-liberation. Unapologetic is a fierce call to reclaim your power, dismantle shame, and live authentically. A must-read for anyone ready to embrace their full potential.' - Vex King

'Brilliant' - Gabby Roslin

'An unbelievable book. I devoured it in a day.' - Ore Oduba

'Highly recommended' - Daryl Morris, Times Radio

Shame thrives when we believe its lie, that we are so broken, so different, that we must hide, apologise and never be free. But this narrative is false.

Shame is difficult to express, but in Unapologetic, I've given it a voice. On every page, I uncover the secrets shame tries to keep hidden. When we realize we're not alone, shame loses its grip, and we reclaim our power. It isolates us, damages our relationships, and keeps us disconnected but it doesn't have to.

Unapologetic is the book that I wish that I had during the most isolating moments in my life when shame had me fully in its grasp. Through my own stories, expert insights, and real client experiences, I hope the reader will discover pieces of themselves and start to reclaim the parts they thought were lost. Unapologetic is more than a book; it's a call to break free from shame and step into your full potential.©2025 Annalie Howling (P)2025 Hodder & Stoughton Limited

What a book! Just what I needed at this point in my life. As an ADHD woman about to divorce and raising two neurodivergent girls, this book spoke so strongly to me.

And the chapter about shame in intimacy OMG!!

Every woman needs to read!!

This book doesn’t whisper — it roars.
Annalie Howling has written something that very few authors dare to create: a brutally honest, emotionally intelligent, and unapologetically articulate exploration of shame, survival, and self-liberation.

Unapologetic goes far beyond the typical self-help narrative. It doesn’t sell healing as a quick fix — it honours the mess, the rage, the numbness, the grief. It speaks directly to those of us who’ve carried silent pain for years and were told to shrink ourselves to make others more comfortable.

Annalie writes with the kind of rare clarity and elegance that stops you in your tracks — part wordsmith, part warrior. She names the weight we carry: the shame of trauma, the guilt of survival, the quiet ache of never feeling “enough.” And then, without preaching, she gently and powerfully begins to unravel it.

There are sentences in this book I wanted to tattoo onto my skin.
If you’ve ever felt broken, silenced, overlooked, or too much — this is not just a book, it’s a mirror. A reckoning. A lifeline.

Read it. Feel it. Let it undo you — and then help you put yourself back together, piece by unapologetic piece.

Unapologetically Honest — A Masterclass in Naming Shame and Taking Back Power

When listening to this book, I could truly feel how much this work means to Annalie, both professionally, and personally. Hearing her speak about shame, boundaries and self expression through the lens of her own growth made it all the more powerful.

As someone on my own journey of letting go of shame and people-pleasing, I found her words grounding and gently affirming, reminding me that it's safe to take up space, to say no and to trust my own voice.

This isn't just another book, it's a legacy of self worth that she is passing down to her beautiful daughter. The fact that she is now touching the lives of millions with this information is deeply inspiring.

I highly recommend this book to anyone ready to step out of old patterns and into a more honest and empowering relationship with themselves.

Powerful and inspiring!

I devoured this book in 3 days! I never thought shame was part of my story but decided to read this after hearing Annalie speak at an event. It helped me realise that shame is something we all experience at certain points in our lives. By understanding it, I was able to spot where it was holding me back and choose a different response. I loved that this was read by the Annalie herself and really enjoyed the personal stories, which helped bring the principles to life.

As a single dad working through real life, real pressure and a few so-called friends I’ve had to let go of, this book hit me harder than I expected. Annalie speaks with honesty and clarity that cuts straight through the noise.

It made me reflect, rethink and actually feel seen in a way men don’t often get from books like this. Emotional, grounding and genuinely helpful. A brilliant listen.

Although I’m not sure if my first ever yoga session I’ve been planning remains a good idea!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unexpectedly powerful for a single dad
