For fans of Michael Connelly and Karin Slaughter comes a heart-stopping thriller that explores the depths of redemption and impossible choices.

When K-9 Officer Eden Mercer enrolls in an elite search and rescue training course in remote Juniper Wells, Arizona, she has a hidden agenda. Her estranged father has finally offered a chance to reunite with her dying mother—if Eden agrees to meet his cult's representatives alone at the Utah border. But when a former military K-9 handler is murdered before he can expose dangerous secrets, Eden and her loyal shepherd Shadow find themselves entangled in a deadly conspiracy.

As more disturbing evidence emerges, Eden discovers that beneath the town's rustic facade lies a web of deception and violence. With time running out to meet her father's deadline, she's forced to confront impossible choices: pursue justice for the murdered veteran, or seize perhaps her only chance to save her family from the cult that stole her childhood.

The closer she gets to the truth, the more she realizes both paths could be leading her straight into a trap.

Can Eden and Shadow uncover who's behind the murder before they become the next targets? Or will her desperate bid to reunite with her family cost her everything?

Dive into "Twisted Pursuit" and lose yourself in a pulse-pounding tale of loyalty, redemption, and the price of confronting the past.

Brilliant narration from Hannah Somerville, who brings drama and family connections to your ears.

Eden and her K9 Shadow are at a specialist dog-training class, learning advanced search and rescue techniques. Being there is a double edge sword. As Eden wants to see her mother and siblings. One problem is her father who is a true manipulator and a cult leader.
With strange happenings and using her sixth sense Eden finds her and shadows life in danger. As the truth comes out about the training and the real purpose of the SAR member. With someone using their money to give themselves some evil pleasure.
Twists, family, action and drama. Perfect.

I am really enjoying this series and book 5 did not disappoint.

The narration is ok but could use more inflection or a slightly varied voice for different characters as it was sometimes hard to tell who was talking with a single narrator.

I'm enjoying watching Eden grow and change and become the cop she is meant to be.

I've consumed the previous four in this excellent series. This means I've followed revelations about Eden's backstory and efforts to contact her family as well as her progression as a detective. You'd be best advised to start at book one and arrive at this withn that richness of backstory, but I can see this would work as a standalone.

The story starts with a billionaire relishing a sip of his eye-wateringly expensive Scotch whisky and outdoing his severe father, The plot checks in with this man and his coterie from time-to time, but have confidence the storylines will cross. Eden and her canine, Shadow the German Shepherd, are translocated from rural Oregon to desert Arizona for a specialised training camp. She is out of her jurisdiction and the only law enforcer as all the others are part of the local search and rescue team. One of the members of this team dies on their first exercise and the renowned trainer wants to call off the rest of the course, but is pressed to continue by the majority of participants. Eden's offers of help in investigating this death are rebuffed by the local police officer, Running Bear. However, Eden and Shadow bring her round and she is an ally when new information emerges. The remaining members of the team and the instructor are all suspects in what is determined to be a murder. Each exercise puts Eden and Shadow in physical danger, not just from the conditions, but because any member of the team or instructor could be the murderer. She is motivated to stay because the other reason for taking this course is to be able to see her mother and siblings still caught in the cult she escaped as a teenager.

There is a dramatic climax and the dogs are important as well as relevant to the story. I found the resolutions very satisfying and just. Thrilling, entertaining and interesting read.

The narrator does a good voice acting performance with appropriate emotions and tone for each distinct character.

Oh my gosh! I loved this when I read it on my kindle and think I loved it even more as an audio book.
This is the type of book that grips you right from the start and doesn't let up as it rushes to the end, talk about suspenseful and action packed. Even though I read the book I was still sat on the edge of my seat.

I want to say I liked the characters but I spent most of the book miss trusting everybody. Well except Eden and her faithful partner Shadow of course, who excel in this book. Eden has grown so much, from how she was in the very first book and I have to say I think this one is my favourite so far. It's a great series and I even recommend it to my mum, who is now hooked too.
The rest of the supporting characters like her mentor, her sister and grandmother aren't present in this book, as Eden and Shadow go it alone in a very different situation to what they usually face. The story is mostly told by Eden as it's her challenges she has to over come and work out but you also get a few perspectives from other characters as the tension builds. This works well to create a gripping read that while I wanted to skip to the end, I also didn't want to end. A series I am glad I discovered because in my opinion it is just getting better and better and I can't wait for the next book.

When the father she escaped from fifteen years earlier offers her one chance to meet up with her dying mother, K-9 Officer Eden Mercer knows it will be hard not to get sucked back into the world that was so hard to escape from in the first place. Rather than sit around in an empty hotel room waiting for them to get in contact, she enrolls her partner in an elite search and rescue training session, with a top trainer. The problem is the rest of the participants taking part in the course are a tight team who works together on rescue missions and they resent outsiders. Eden is no stranger to resentment but even Shadow picks up on the strange atmosphere and behaviour. When one of there own is killed during a training session, things don't add up and Eden turns to the local law for help. With just days before she has to meet her father, can Eden unravel the strange behaviours of both the humans and the dogs in a group that is supposed to help people? Will she and Shadow survive to fight another day?
I like the narrator. She helps the characters come to life and like Shadow and Eden the author and narrator make a great team.

I am just binge listening to this series. This book was a little too dark for me, although I did listen to it as I appreciated the writing and narration. The reason was the dogs, having two of my own.

What I didnt understand from a character place was why the sister wasnt involved but sure it was a plot device for the second sub plot and it was needed to work out that way.
