About this listen

Forensic investigator Dustin Reed stopped believing in fairytale romance in high school. Ever since his best friends scared off his loser ex, he's been a chronically single scrawny geek, afraid of being used. Love blossoms around him, while his family wants him to get hitched to the right class of man. All he can seem to find is hookup app encounters, but Dustin wishes someone would sweep him off his feet for love, too.

After his tour of duty, now-forensic photographer Leo Sanderson is glad to be home. Behind his muscles lies a heart of gold, but school and his new job aren't resonating with him. Nobody has his back anymore, but he's fine on his own. He's never clicked with the women he's dated, but bumping into Dustin in a gay bar is making things fall into place...a little faster than he'd like.

Hooking up while avoiding labels isn't a bad idea: Leo's figuring himself out, Dustin's unwilling to hand over his heart, and they both work together. But Valentine's day is coming and they haven't been seeing anyone else. In fact, neither of them want to. Every fairytale has to start somewhere; why not the bedroom? Can they get past their insecurities and admit to each other and the world what they really want?

This series just continues to completely kill it! It’s the perfect amount of fluffy fun with always just a dash of conflict, enough to keep you interested, but not enough to add any unnecessary angst. Dustin and Leo were just so perfect together. They went through so much personal growth and exploration on their journey to love and I just incredibly enjoyed being along for the ride.

The Significant Brothers series is quickly becoming one of my go-to listens whenever I want something upbeat and low angst. Greg B's narration is always on-point with these books, and now that I'm 4 audios in I barely have to think about which voices belong to which characters. Leo and Dustin's story had the potential to be something grittier, since both men work for the police department, but much to my relief, the majority of this story revolved around their budding relationship and not anything gruesome. I loved how open and communicative Leo and Dustin were as they navigated the early stages of their hookups. I've read so many stories lately where poor communication ends up wrecking things, so it was very refreshing to see these men sharing their feelings with each other from the start. I thought the plot was well paced with the romantic developments in the story, and while no singular moment stood out as shocking or unexpected, I'll admit that I didn't see that twist with Dustin's family coming. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing how yet another Significant Brother got is happily ever after.

This romance was such a lovely, feel-good story

I loved this book by E. Davies because all the characters, but especially the two main, romantic characters behave like adults throughout the story. There is no false drama, no contrived plot devices, only two men who are finding themselves and as part of that, working on establishing a firm, healthy relationship. I loved it that they were connected by their jobs of forensic investigator and forensic photographer. Greg Boudreux's performance perfectly fits the story. He makes both men sound like the adults they are, while still making them and their relationshp hot, hot, hot. Another superb entry by this perfect combo of author and narrator/performer.

I loved Dustin and Leo! such a refreshing story and approach to sexuality, with to practical thinkers. I loved Leo's approach and embracing of his realised sexuality. I could relate to Dustin's family situation and it's angered me that his parents couldn't just be happy for him. as these two were rather practical they "talked to each other" and most if the time quicky came around to saying what they wanted! so refreshing! I look forward to Tyler's story up next 😍

best one yet!
