Summary

The Manor Psychiatric Hospital in the Lake District is where Doctor Helen Ross decides to move her career. She soon realizes, however, that all is not as it should be at the hospital. Patients being removed from their beds in the dead of night and the odd behavior of the staff prompts her to investigate. What secrets does the hospital hold? And why are the staff so obedient to Professor Kirkby and his strange rules?

One of the best books I've listened to this year

Would you listen to Torment again? Why?

Not sure on that one. It was great story but it makes me want something new from the author.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The new female doctor. I liked her just because she didn't fall intimidated as the other characters did.

What does Elaine Wise bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think her accent of course helps since the story took place in the UK. But also her performance, tone and emotion. She very well. I would recommend her again.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Torment What's your fear?

Any additional comments?
