Something is wrong in the west of Ireland. The first collapse looks like an accident. The first scream says otherwise. By the time anyone understands what’s happening…They Rise. From the author of the Escape from London trilogy (The Undead Presents). Within hours, the A3 virus spreads through towns, schools, hospitals and homes. Communication fails. Help doesn’t come. What begins as a handful of isolated incidents becomes a fight to survive.

In Ballymote, ordinary people are caught in the first wave. Parents. Children. Nurses. Teachers. Friends.

Some will run. Some will hide. Some will make choices they can never take back. As the infection closes in, one truth becomes clear: Not everyone is getting out. They Rise: In The West is a grounded, character-driven zombie thriller set in rural Ireland.

well written, brilliantly performed, and the sound effects help bring it to life. Think the walking dead in Ireland.

A fantastic immersive audio

This is a great take on an outbreak story. The POV’s of the main group take you through what would happen if and how fast things can go south. There is good character development but don’t get too attached to anyone you never know if you’ll see them again.

Creepy, eerie and very Irish

it's not often that you find a zombie story set on our wee island. The author expertly navigates the different aspects of Irish society, and the phycological impacts on the characters throughout. the narrators take this and use it to show the emotion running through and bring this to life. Multi narration with SFX is a new one for me but it was thoroughly enjoyed. I am already looking forward to the next installment in this series.
