Mystery Trials Series

A good story, well told, and entertaining. I have downloaded A Queen’s Spy which is the next one in the series as well as I really wanted to find out what happened to Elizabeth and Richard next.

A Tudor Heresy

And what a heresy indeed, I would expect that back in the tudor times this incident was well buried and never referred to again, I am guessing it has only come to light in later years as the privy council were involved and so it will actually have been recorded in the court rolls.

Good Book

A good story, well narrated and easy to listen to. Often with audio books I find the narrator hard to understand, but this was very clean and well presented.

Enjoyable listen

Loved the story of Elizabeth before she made it to the throne, really interesting story about an incident that I did not know had happened but it explains a lot about this Queen’s later life and the fact that she never married.

More intrigue than Game of Thrones

Honestly Tudor England had it all – intrigue, murder, mystery, plots and counter plots, espionage and even more intrigue. Love this time period and this was a great listen, packed with historical facts perfectly blended with historical fiction.

Historical Fiction

I really like historical fiction, and especially historical mysteries. There are some real gems in this book and if you are a history buff then there are probably a few eye openers as well – I had no idea there had been an abduction attempt on Edward!

Excellent Historical Series

This is he series intro and serves as a good introduction to the characters and the setting for the rest of the series, and also explains why the main character acts like he does. I listened to A Queen’s Spy first and then this one, which was the wrong way round and this book makes sense of a lot of what happens in the second book.

Tudor History

The story is based in 16th Century Tudor England in the time before Elizabeth I took the throne. A time of plots and court intrigue. There are two historical tales here woven together, the assault on Elizabeth by Thomas Seymour and the attempted abduction of King Edward. All great stuff.

Tudor Heresy

Quite a gripping tale, takes place after the death of Henry VIII when his son Edward is on the thone, not a period of history that often makes it into works of fiction as most authors focus on the Elizabethan age. Richard Fitzwarren is the hero of the story and the story involves his relationship with the princess Elizabeth and Thomas Seymour.

Medieval Fiction

The story tells us of Elizabeth I’s life before she reached the throne of her relationship with Thomas Seymour who may have actually raped her before she made it the throne. The gallant in the story is Richard Fitzwarren and his story continues in the next book which is quite a decent length – A Queen’s Spy.
