About this listen

Bloomsbury presents The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu, read by Daniel York Loh.

Read the award-winning, critically acclaimed, multi-million-copy-selling science-fiction phenomenon – soon to be a Netflix Original Series from the creators of Game of Thrones.

1967: Ye Wenjie witnesses Red Guards beat her father to death during China's Cultural Revolution. This singular event will shape not only the rest of her life but also the future of mankind.

Four decades later, Beijing police ask nanotech engineer Wang Miao to infiltrate a secretive cabal of scientists after a spate of inexplicable suicides. Wang's investigation will lead him to a mysterious online game and immerse him in a virtual world ruled by the intractable and unpredictable interaction of its three suns.

This is the Three-Body Problem and it is the key to everything: the key to the scientists' deaths, the key to a conspiracy that spans light-years and the key to the extinction-level threat humanity now faces.

Very well written and even more importantly for an audiobook - great narration. Loved this volume and now going on to the next two.

Wonderful masterpiece of SF

The story is excellent and full of detail. The only criticism I have is the narrator appeared to not know how to pronounce Chinese names so appeared to have left gaps, then recorded the Chinese names after with some help then edited them in. The result is when I Chinese name comes up the sentence flow seems to skip a bit which I found quite distracting.

An excellent book crossing sci-fi with political history

A great story that grips you from the start. Some of the characters are little 2 dimensional and some of the more technical parts are hard to grasp right away but the world the story brings to life is truly excellent and worth a few one note characters.

Interesting

Really enjoyed the story as a whole but had to suspend disbelief at some of the made up science such as the sun being able to amplify radio waves.

On the whole the buildup was slow but interspersed with some incredible ideas and some of the characters were a bit one-dimensional.

Slight issue with the narration which always seemed to be angry.

Despite the review have gone straight to book two.

Great but with made up science

A deeply scientific interesting book. It is much better than the Netflix adaptation, in my opinion. The narration is well directed and very clear, super easy to follow.

Amazing book very well narrated
