Summary

All he wants is to win her love. A dark spell may separate them forever.

A high school loner in a perfect town - that was Jacob’s life. Until his school was ripped apart by magic. After losing everything, Jacob is thrown into a world of enchantment. But the wonder of being a wizard isn’t enough to hide the danger lurking in the shadows.

Emilia is the heir of her clan, raised to help her people hide right under the humans’ noses. She can’t escape her duty as a witch. But there are some wishes even spells can’t grant.

When fate binds Jacob and Emilia together, war threatens to destroy all they hold dear. Wizards are under attack, and Jacob and Emilia find themselves at the center of a battle that will decide the survival of magic.

Enjoyable

New to this author, but it turned out enjoyable. Not excessively descriptive of the scenes (don't you just hate those authors who spend a whole page telling about the colour and thickness of the blades of grass in excruciating detail) and a quick enough pace to not let me fall asleep. Thankfully not such a complicated plot that I needed to make notes to keep track of who everyone was and their activities. . Just my cup of tea.. Write another one please.
OK OK I don't drink tea, just my bucket of coffee doesn't sound as good.

A poor Harry Potter take off

I usually enjoy this genre however found the story line slow and rather dull. Many of the characters and their relationships were poorly developed and other simply annoying (except Clare who was fab). I was further irritated by obvious parallels to Harry Potter stories.
