Summary

"We have a patient who has been involved in a serious accident. We believe he’s your husband."

When Freya first met Phil, she thought he was the man of her dreams. He bought her roses every week, booked surprise trips to sun-soaked destinations, and showed her affection like she’d never experienced before. But over time the dream had become a violent nightmare. And now Freya is packing her bags, knowing it’s time she escaped their increasingly broken marriage.

But then Freya gets a visit from the police. Phil’s been in a horrific car crash and - as he comes around - it becomes clear that he remembers nothing since their blissful honeymoon two years before, back when their relationship was perfect. All he wants is to be happily married again.

Freya knows giving him another chance could be dangerous. But now he’s the one who needs her, it’s a chance to turn the tables and to change the outcome of their relationship once and for all. After all, he will know only what she chooses to tell him....

But what really happened during those two years of marriage? And as they start over again, who is safe? And whose life is in danger?

Predictable but entertaining

I really enjoyed listening to the narrator and I liked how the author created suspense and mystery. However it was all just too predictable and not long after we was introduced to the sister, I already knew the direction the story was going in. And I don't really understand why the author choose to build up the story like this, because from the get go we already knew the dynamic of thier relationship. It would have been better if we didn't initially know who was the abusive one. So while Phil was trying to discover the truth, the readers would also be questioning who to believe and trust. The only thing I didn't see coming was the slight twist at the end.

Good storyline

I liked the storyline a lot, I predicted the ending pretty much from the start but I didn't mind that. I found the narrator quite irritating, the tones of voice she used for characters weren't great and she made freyer seem whining all of the time. The Birmingham accent was terrible that should have been researched with people actually from there!!

Just too long

I feel there was about 1.5hrs added to the story to bring it up to the minimum length of 7hrs. However nothing new was introduced and it keep going with same old theme for longer than necessary. But I did keep listening to find out what would happen, so maybe that's an above average rating for the story in that case.

Predictable and a little boring

Wasn’t the best or the worst. Quite a basic premise but kept me listening throughout

Very Entertaining

Wasn’t sure I was going to like it at the beginning, but I am glad I stuck it out. It soon picked up and the twists and turns continued all the way through to the very last sentence. When you finish a book and “Wow” is what you’re thinking several hours later, you know it was a good one.

Marital Secrets???

Great storyline. Filled with multiple ‘who did its’, lies, abuse, amnesia, suspense and surprises. Could not put this one down. Narrator did a good job!
