About this listen

The start of an addictive, tense and gritty series from bestelling author Alex Coombs.

Meet DCI Hanlon. A woman with a habit of breaking the rules and a fierce loyalty to the few people she respects.

When the kidnap of a 12-year-old boy blows the case of some missing children wide apart, the finger is pointing at the heart of the Met.

Hanlon is sent in as the only cop who is incorruptible enough to handle it. But can she find the killer before another child is stolen?

Once you start the DCI Hanlon series, you won't be able to stop. Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Lisa Regan and Mark Dawson.

This book was previously published as Time To Die by Alex Howard.

I gave up and asked for a refund as the narration was so bad, which was a shame as the story was interesting and intriguing- I wanted to know more. Started off as a mild irritation as she pronounced “arthritis” as if it was a man’s full name (Arthur Ritus) but as I got an hour in it just became a distraction to the story line and I gave up. Made me appreciate the many, many good narrators I’ve had the privilege of listening to within audible.

Would listen to full story with different narrator

This was a good story and I have listened to all the books, however the narrator did not work with the book. The voice was too monotone for the type of content that sadly spoilt the enjoyment of the storyline

Good story

Good as always ( I’ve read some of the Hanlon after this one). However I did find this one a little darker than her later books. Narration excellent.

I struggled to keep engaged with this narrator. I would not choose to listen to another book narrated by her

The content of the book is very explicit in terms of child sexual assault by paedophiles. It was hard to listen to, and I'd not have chosen this book if I'd been aware of the content in advance. I felt the author relished in repeating the details. There are disturbing images that cannot easily be forgotten and I felt quite upset and angry. Obviously this is a work of fiction, but the fact that we live in a world where things like this, and worse, actually happen is just overwhelming.

Not the easiest listen

As I had no 2 and 3 free i read the whole series. then read Hanlon PI and was saddened that I'd gone through the series. realised I hadn't read book 1 (which didn't really matter as each book is a separate story) but now know what happened to Whitehead. this is a great author and can't recommend enough for the suspense. just brilliant. I will be looking out for more books.

fantastic story
