Summary

The Spook and his apprentice, Thomas Ward, deal with the dark.

Together they rid the county of witches, ghosts and boggarts. But now they have unfinished business to attend to in Priestown. Deep in the catacombs of the cathedral, lurks the Spook’s nemesis - the Bane. A creature he has never been able to defeat. As Thomas and his master prepare for the battle of their lives it becomes clear that the Bane isn’t their only enemy in town. The Quisitor has arrived, searching the county for those who meddle with the dark – witches, warlocks and Spooks! When the Spook is arrested and sentenced to death it's up to Thomas, with a little help from his old friend Alice, to rescue his master and destroy the curse of Priestown

Well that escalated quickly

An impressive follow up to the first book in the Ward Stone Chronicles. The tension never lets up throughout the entire story. Truly gripping.

Thrilling Sequel

After buying the first story to listen to on a long car journey with my teenage sons, they begged me to buy the second one. It was no less gripping and magical than the first having all the family hooked to find out what was going to happen next. Narrated by Will Thorp (not the same person who narrated the first) took some getting used to, he did an excellent job.

Loved the book

As much as I loved the book and I did the readers voices weren’t as great at the previous book the bane sounded like the spook at times and I just didn’t enjoy listening as much as I have done the previous 2. Hopefully 3 will be better.

Spoiled by narrator

Really enjoyed the first book and was looking forward to this second one but the change in narrator was a total let down. He read the book like someone bursting for the toilet, high pitched and out of breath what a disaster so pleased the narrator changes again for the next one..... what were they thinking hope they didn’t pay him!

Performance

I don't like the change of voice actor, with the first audio book read by Daniel Weyman it was read and performed perfectly but with Will Thorpe, his accent doesn't suite any of the characters and the pronunciation is a bit rubbish.
