I don't want to sound dramatic, but the fault lies entirely with Payton Lopez. She walked into my life with her mile-long legs and dark brown waves and threw me the curviest of all curve balls. Overnight, my ability to pitch disappeared with my ability to charm, and I found myself riding a one-way ticket to being the most expensive bench warmer in the M.L.B.
The only solution: get Payton to fix what she broke, something she agrees to on one very easy condition.
Before long, what started as a way to get my pitch back soon turned into any excuse I could find for us to spend time together. Before long, I had everything I didn't even realize I wanted.
Now, I just need to prove to her that while I exist without baseball, I can't live without her.
Payton Lopez might have thrown me a curveball, but I'm pitching it right back.

Ace was such a guy 😂 He was the stereotypical jock who knows he’s all that, and I loved it! I full on laughed out loud so much at the banter between him and the boys, especially during the Cosmo scenes 🤣 But what I loved most was that Payton put him in his place so quick he didn’t know what was happening! He had a rude awakening that gave him a bit of an identity crisis, but I loved that we saw him completely mature as the book went on. It was the perfect Reformed Playboy redemption story, and I loved watching him discover more about himself.
Payton was so sassy and stubborn, I loved her! She didn’t take crap from anybody and was so quick to put people in their place. She had her job cut out for her dealing with Ace, and I loved their playful relationship. I love the whole “we’re not dating but we’re something” trope, because it’s so sweet when they finally realise their feelings.
I loved the little breadcrumbs we got about Radley coming to Columbia and of course I’m already in love with Lux, so I think they might be my favourite NYL book! 🤭 I just started the ARC and so far, it’s amazing!! 😍
