Summary
A fresh, challenging and compassionate response to busyness, based on the way of life Jesus offered his disciples.
Who are you becoming? That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. By outward metrics, everything appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren't pretty. So he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: 'Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life.' It wasn't the response he expected, but it continues to be the answer he needs.
Too often we treat the symptoms of toxicity in our modern world instead of trying to pinpoint the cause. A growing number of voices are pointing at hurry, or busyness as a root of much evil. Within this audiobook, you'll find a compelling emotional and spiritual case against hurry and in favour of a slower, simpler way of life.

Refreshing and liberating
I would recommend this to anyone who is tired of being over busy, weighed down by too many demands in life. It’s an honest, vulnerable account of someone who has been there and continues to choose a different way, a simpler life with time to be, time to love, time to enjoy all that’s good in life.
I found it irresistible and thought- provoking. I am making significant changes to my life as a result of reading this.

Must Read...so why 4 stars
I don't believe in God. However, the author even tries to pigeon hole this to believers. Despite that, it's essential and lots to learn. Challenge your habits.

Super insightful and inspiring
The impact of a real sabbath and stillness, silence and solitude, in this book, as well as the author’s online studies, have had a great positive impact on my peace of mind and hearing from God.
There are so many insightful facts and anecdotes from Jesus’s example to humanity’s changes in time management, value systems and modern technology.
Many other concepts/principles shared resonate deeply (minimalism, media intake balance etc.) and shows how much wellbeing God has designed for us if we only stop and really follow the ‘manufacturer’s instructions’.
Will defo be re-reading.

Good book but for new moms
Good book but for new moms (like me) I wish there's more examples. But then of course, the writer is a man and can only give example from his perspective and his experience... All I'm saying is life got sooo crazily fast when we got a baby.. Every morning felt like a need for hurry.. and how can I possibly "get up earlier than the baby" for a quick quiet morning for Prayer when my baby seems like to have a "sensor" than wakes up 30mins earlier than I plan? 😅 Example, I planned to get up 5am, then there she goes, crying at 4am or 4:30am..and takes 2 hours to put her back to sleep... by the time I have the quiet moment, I wanted to go back to sleep😅 anyone's got a genuine and loving suggestion?
