In the beginning, God created Adam. Then he made Eve. And ever since we've been picking up the pieces. Loveology is just that - a theology of love. With an autobiographical thread that turns an audiobook into a story, pastor and speaker John Mark Comer shares about what is right in male/female relationships - what God intended in the Garden. And about what is wrong - the fallout in a post-Eden world. Loveology starts with marriage and works backward.

Story
We live in a time when our culture is becoming increasingly shallow, coarse, and empty. Radical shifts in the areas of sexuality, ethics, technology, secular ideologies, and religion have caused the once-familiar landscape of a generation ago to be virtually unrecognizable. Yet rather than shine as a beacon of light, the church often is silent or accommodating. This isn’t a new phenomenon. During World War II, pastor and theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer was deeply troubled by the compromise in the German church.

Story
This is your wake-up call to resist the Hustle culture and embrace the slowness of Jesus. Our culture makes constant demands of us: Do more. Accomplish more. Buy more. Post more. Be more. In following these demands, we have indeed become more: More anxious. More tired. More hurt. More depressed. More frantic. What we are doing isn't working! In a society where hustle is the expectation, busyness is the norm and information is king, we have forgotten the fundamentals that make us human, anchor our lives, and provide meaning.

Jesus used things like a lily, sparrow, and sheep to teach about the kingdom of God. And in the Old Testament, God repeatedly describes himself and his saving work in relation to physical things such as a rock, horn, or eagle. In God of All Things, pastor and author Andrew Wilson invites you to rediscover God in this way, too - through ordinary, everyday things. He explores the idea of a material world and presents a variety of created marvels that reveal the gospel in everyday life and fuel worship and joy in God.

From the upper room of Pentecost to Azusa Street in Los Angeles, God has used prayer movements throughout history to change the world. More than 15 years ago, a group of students gathered for a prayer vigil in Chichester, England - and the prayers they started haven’t stopped. Out of that first meeting came 24-7 Prayer: an international movement of prayer, mission, and justice. Red Moon Rising is the story of how that movement continues today - and how each of us can be a part of the miracles God is doing through a new generation.

Amazing truth made easy to understand..
- By James on 24-04-21
Summary
A fresh, challenging and compassionate response to busyness, based on the way of life Jesus offered his disciples.
Who are you becoming? That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. By outward metrics, everything appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren't pretty. So he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: 'Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life.' It wasn't the response he expected, but it continues to be the answer he needs.
Too often we treat the symptoms of toxicity in our modern world instead of trying to pinpoint the cause. A growing number of voices are pointing at hurry, or busyness as a root of much evil. Within this audiobook, you'll find a compelling emotional and spiritual case against hurry and in favour of a slower, simpler way of life.

I was enjoying the book until about an hour and a half in when the author went off subject and started talking about white privilege and systemic racism in America. I decided not to waste any more of my valuable time listening to this guy.

I didnt love it
I did not love this book ( but I know people who rave about it), there were some interesting facts in the book, some things I will take away and think about but overall, I found myself thinking, " when is this going to finish?"
The narrator sort of got on my nerves a bit, I found myself rolling my eyes at times. I am more into deeper theological books, as I found this book lacking in that department.

Enjoyable from start to finish
What I have learnt from reading this book?
Time is valuable so don't waste it but use it wisely.
Feed your soul good things, God things and helpful things.
What goes in come out eventually.
Walking like Jesus means to walk slowly.
If we pray break my heart for what break your, then we need to slow down long enough for God to show us.
Thank you
God Bless
Ben
