About the narrator
Claudia is a Brand Ambassador for Barnardos UK, heading their 'Look Good Do Good' campaign for vintage clothing.

About the author
Before becoming a full-time author, she worked in advertising for some of the UK’s most iconic radio brands. She lives on the south coast of England with her husband and two small children. When she’s not juggling motherhood and a writing career, she’ll probably be watching cooking shows, obsessing over Taylor Swift, or reading romance novels like her life depends on it. The Rebound is her first novel.

Summary
How far would you go to win back the love of your life?
Only from Audible comes this exclusive laugh-out-loud rom-com, perfect for fans of Emily Henry and Beth O’Leary.
Kitty Harris has it all: cosily coupled up with boyfriend Archie, she’s putting in the hours at an ad agency to land her dream job. OK, so maybe they’ve become a bit too comfortable in their routine, with pizza night every Thursday, and maybe the agency isn’t so much up-and-coming as been-and-gone, but Kitty is happy.
Until one diamond ring sitting pretty in her pepperoni ruins everything. Kitty does NOT want to get married, not after being caught in the crosshairs of her parent’s destructive divorce. Desperate not to lose Archie altogether, Kitty suggests a summer-long break so she can turn her ‘I don’t’ into ‘I do’. Somehow.
Enter Leo Evans, Kitty’s impeccably dressed advertising nemesis who loves to appear at the very worst moment. Needing a distraction of his own, Leo claims to have the cure for Kitty’s cold feet: a no-strings rebound fling and a ten-date plan to face her marriage fears. Kitty shouldn’t really be fraternizing with the gorgeous enemy, not when they’re about to go head-to-head for the biggest pitch of their careers, but if it means getting her happily-ever-after with Archie, it’s a risk she’s willing to take.
This rebound is about to get complicated. Luckily, you can’t catch feelings when you’re still madly in love with someone else...right?

Not my demographic but.......
I am a 42 year old rugby playing ex copper. My usual reads are crime fiction, history and biography.
I was a few days from a new credit and hit play on a title in the included list. It started like a crime thriller so I carried on for a few chapters. When I paused I saw the cover and realised my mistake, however I was kind of interested to see how things panned out for kitty and carried on until I was completely hooked!
My wife uses my account and saw what I was reading.
"it's really good" I said through bloodshot eyes.
Honestly this book is brilliant. Superbly paced, well constructed characters. I was genuinely invested in their situations.
I have now added another genre to my reading list and will look out for more titles by Leeanne Slade.

Fabulous!
Wow, I absolutely loved this from start to finish. Not many books get 5 stars all the way from me, but this deserves every one of them.
I'm not a big fan of mushy love stories & at first, I thought this was going to be just another 'boy meets girl' predictable tale, but it's SO much more than that.
It was engaging, intriguing, funny, sad, passionate & completely lovely. I fell in love with Kitty & Leo, even Kitty's mother won me over. The excellent narration was the cherry on top.
A thoroughly enjoyable listen.

This is a bit awkward ...
I am a semi-retired male, Audible Premium Plus member, who is down to his last couple of credits - so I thought I would give the Plus Catalogue a quick browse, for an included title. I love 'hard' science fiction, as well as historical books/novels and the occasional thriller. The 'Romance' category is one I would never normally consider. Yet, for some reason, I found this book amongst the recommended section and thought - why not give it a go? I think the review from 'MossMan' who describes himself as "a 42 year old rugby playing ex copper" encouraged me. Apparently he too took a punt on this title and seemed impressed.
So, I never in my life thought I would be composing a review of a romantic comedy, let alone feeling compelled to award 5 stars. Leeanne Slade is a brilliant story teller. She makes you care about the characters - all of them - from the beginning, and once you start the story, there is no easy way to let go. You have to follow it through. I really do feel awkward reviewing this as I suspected at first that it would be a book to appeal to women more than men, and perhaps it does, but I loved it and felt very sad when it ended.
.. and what can I say about Claudia Jessie? Her narration is perfect. I doubt that anyone else could have done such justice to this wonderful book.
I hope my review might persuade a few doubters to give this book a chance.
By the way - excellent idea making this available through the Plus Catalogue. I am sure that I won't be the only person to back to use a credit/pay for Leeanne Slade's future publications.

Some profanity and sex, but cute story
If this had been a clean listen, it would easily get five stars. As is, I gave it 4 stars because it has some infrequent strong profanity, and a couple sex scenes (thankfully not graphically detailed). I’d recommend it with a content warning.

PERFECTION!
This was UTTER PERFECTION! A witty journey of self-discovery and love in the unlikeliest way...a fiancé freakout, a "temporary" summer break up, and a rebound guy (also a work nemesis) who is willing to help you get over your marriage-phobia one fake date at a time!
After her own parents messy divorce, Kitty has sworn off marriage but, that's okay because she has found Archie, her long-term, understanding boyfriend of seven years. She is comfortable. Content. Until a night at home starts with a pepperoni pizza proposal and ends in panic! Desperate not to lose Archie forever, Kitty suggests a summer break from their relationship. She will work on herself and be marriage ready by the time summer ends. Struggling to wrap her mind around her predicament, Kitty finds herself face down in a panic attack and that is where her work nemesis, Leo, finds her! Full of concern, Leo is there for Kitty in one of her worst moments, forging an unlikely friendship and connection. He even has a way for Kitty to cure her cold feet! A no-strings, friends with benefits relationship...the benefit being his 10-Date Plan to marriage readiness...and quite a few more benefits too! 😉
Here is the thing, this is an Audible Original. It's exclusively on Audible. Did that stop me from messaging @leeannesladeauthor and asking her if it would ever be published to paperback? No it did not! I NEED this in paperback! Did this story cause me to slow my listening speed to prolong the greatness that was this story? Yes it did! I simply didn't want this to end and I am fairly certain I could listen again with just as much joy and love for Kitty and Leo as I did the first time! Kitty and Leo have my whole heart! Their witty banter, encouraging comments, mutual respect, and obvious love for one another (even if they coudn't see it themselves) was FANTASTIC! And, their chemistry made me swoon! Ugh! I just loved this SO much! If you have Audible, go download it! If you don't, consider a free trial just to listen to this! IT'S PERFECTION!
Oh! And, it's narrated by Claudia Jessie, Eloise from Bridgerton and she is PHENOMENAL!

Not a Rom-Com
Claudia Jesse’s performance CARRIED this book. SHE is magical and I only finished because of her narration.
But this plot- no. It is NOT a romcom. This is Women’s Fiction. The romance itself is questionable.
I liked Leo’s character- until the 80% mark- go back to your ex? No. Make it make sense.
Kitty- oh Kitty. Bless. I could see her arc and that she grew with the help of therapy (praise for her going and applying the lessons from therapy). But the fact she couldn’t see that Archie was a selfish jerk til the literal end was too freaking long.
There was a way for the story to have ended cutting out the last 20% of unnecessary drama and making us think TWICE that Leo and Kitty were doomed to always mix up their signals, and I would have been fine.
But a three year time jump, the exes being factors til 98% of the book, the miscommunication for a couple whose safe word was literally “truth”- it just was too much.
I loved parts of this, but the ending was rushed and unsatisfying.
If the blurb had correctly labeled this Women’s Fiction, I would have gone into this with different expectations that may have allowed me to not become INFURIATINGLY FRUSTRATED with this couple.
I think the whole point of this book was for Kitty to get her mess together and be happy within herself, not for this to be a romance novel.

This books so so good. The characters. The up and downs. I honestly had no clue how this book was going to end but it made the ending that much better. 10/10 I’m going to be recommending this book to everyone.

Almost perfect!
I haven't read too much contemporary British romance, let alone listened to any on audio. But I am glad I took a chance on this.
It is not a complete tragedy, but neither is it a comedy. It's a dramedy full of self-depricating humor, life lessons, empowering messages and spicy hot times.
It is the story of a young girl who pretty much let both her past and the choice around her rule her life. Kitty is haunted by her parents divorce, and because of that, she jumped in a comfortable, codependent relationship. She is also stucj in a job she does not hate but that doesn't seem to have much of a future.
Until a very botched proposal puts everything into perspective and sets her on an uncharted and surprising path to a summer of love with the slightly older, charming guy from her comoetitor a few floors up.
I will say, this story is cute, and charming, and even funny at times, even though most of it is rooted in tragedy. But then... the whole self-sicovery thing and the several missed opportunities are both justified and annoying. In a good way, if such a thing exists.
But oh well, it works out in triumppg at the end, so it is all good, I just wished Kitty had a bit more self-esteem at the end.

The plot touched my heart. I could relate to this scenario. It is rough when you feel you aren’t the first choice & you try to get over it.
