Zoe and Miles! What a dark, delicious story! Sophie Lark is bringing this series to the forefront. I loved the parents of these characters, but these books are even better! Zoe and her sister Kat have gone to Kingmakers. Zoe, under the watchful eye of her betrothed, crazy fiancé, Rocky Romero, has tortured her throughout her life and the promise of marriage just heightens the danger she will be in under his wing. Miles watches, and steps up to protect the beautiful woman, and now has promised not only his heart to her, but is going to do what he needs to break the marriage contract. Danger is lurking, but even if he can break the arrangement, will Rocky accept it? What a story! The love story in itself is enough to make my heart sing, and the twist enough to make my heart cringe! The best of both worlds and an amazing listen.

Jeffrey Holz, Maeve York and Lily Drake bring this story to life. These three understand their characters, and tune into their personalities creating Miles, Zoe and Kat. I loved their portrayal, the emotions, conflicts, love and suspense they brought and enjoyed this listen.

Sophie Lark continues to wow me with her second installment to her “Kingmakers” series, a spinoff of her amazing “Brutal Birthright” series featuring the children of those mafia families and others as well. The Kingmaker’s is an academy preparing the next generation for the mafia world they were born into. Some are the heirs who will rule, the others are their support, some are soldiers, others are business orientated and there are those who will train to become spies. The world building and character development is phenomenal. Each book in the series features different lead characters and stands on their own, the descriptive details include everything you need to know so you will never feel lost or if you are missing something. This brings us not only Miles and Zoe Romero’s story but we get to know Zoe’s sister Catalina “Cat” too, who actually steals the show near the end. I won’t say much about her other than how much she grew as a person her freshman year at the Kingmakers, and I am looking forward to her story next. Back to the Miles and Zoe, I absolutely adored Miles, his upbeat and smart personality and business sense, a definite go getter and when he set his eyes on Zoe, he had to have her. Zoe and Rocco’s fathers made a deal and Zoe was promised to Rocco Prince, who is anything but a prince, he is more like a deviant and brutal creep and so are the guys he hangs with. Zoe convinced her father to not go thru with the marriage until after they finish school,s but Rocco wants to take what is his. She tries to stay away from him as much as she can, but it is not always possible. Miles vows to end their arranged marriage but can he pull it off, can he get the Prince and Romero families to ditch the arrangement and if how will Rocco retaliate when he finds out someone is trying to take what is his. This brilliantly plotted romantic suspense is action packed with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling moments, heartfelt and emotional moments and some steamy romance. Sophie Lark, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Jeffrey Holz, Maeve York and Lily Drake are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They have a complete understanding of the characters they portray, give each a voice that fits the character’s persona, sounding believable and just as I picture the characters to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions, projected them into their performance and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers were a pleasure to listen to and their narration enhanced this already amazing story to another level. Thank you for this great listen.

The Kingmakers series is highly addictive. I loved The Rebel. Zoe is stuck in a marriage contract with Rocco who is psychopath who loves to hurt people. Miles comes along and will do whatever it takes to get Zoe for himself. Their story held me captive from beginning to end. It was full of danger and suspense and, of course, twists and turns. I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series. Jeffrey Holz, Maeve York and Lily Drake all did an excellent job bringing these characters to life.
