I know her secret….
Cat is in so much trouble. She did something bad, and I saw.
I’ll keep her secret...for a price.
Poor, sweet, timid Cat should never have come to Kingmakers. It’s a place for monsters and killers. People like me.
She wandered into the lion’s den and now she’s mine.
Mine to play with. Mine to torment. Mine to break....
The Lark Notes:
My very first inspiration for Kingmakers was Dean Yenin. I wanted to write a true antihero who would need to undergo a very serious change in his character to complete his redemption arc. Dean will make you feel all the things, sometimes against your will. You’ll love him and hate him and love him again, and never get him out of your head.—Sophie
The Bully is a stand-alone novel. It's the third installment in the epic dark mafia Kingmakers series—a bully romance, full of dark, twisted enemies-to-lovers conflict. Listener beware, this one is intense.

The start of the school year is shocking for Cat but if she wants her secret kept she will need to do anything Dean wants her to. And he has her do so much as if to see if he can break her spirit. But Cat is stronger than even maybe she knew. Both of these two find so much more in each other than they thought when Dean’s demands lead them to getting his sexual demands met by the innocent Cat. What ends up happening is they grow a bond keeping her secret and finding new experiences with one another. But emotions are high and in schools there are always going to be petty jealous people who will try breaking another’s spirit. Cat has a mean girl who has it out for her and it goes on throughout the story.
Cat is becoming better at sleuthing and finding things out. Yet sometimes things are better left buried, or so Dean thinks when she tells him some things about his family. But Dean was so not ready for it and lashes out. Thankfully he has someone to go to, to work out his feelings with, in the new defence teacher. A retired professional boxer Snow.
There’s other things that are happening in the background with one of the students and the librarian and I’m sure we are going to find out more in the next book.
This world that Sophie has created is full of twists and turns and suspense. With elements of bully romance that I have come to love. Can’t wait for more from this author.
Lilly has us wanting to help Cat, at times giving her strength to deal with her bullies and times to hug her for all she keeps hidden and needs to keep there. She shows us Cat’s compassion as she tries to help other’s and her strength when dealing with things head on.
Gregory Salinas has the voice that was made for Dean. Showcasing his smooth don’t give a damn attitude as well as hidden caring for Cat.
The times Antonio popped as the spy has me needing to hear more about what he plans to do and to whom?

The costs of wrong-doing against a fellow student is the Rule of Recompense. It is truly eye for an eye, with no exceptions. Cat’s secret has put her on Dean’s radar. While he initially loves lording over her, her kind nature offers him a different perspective of his world. When his boxing coach, Snow, takes him under his wing, Dean begins to really take stock of himself as he learns to channel his anger in the ring. Dean learns that being the strongest and most threatening student on the campus has shut him off from people, and he begins to thaw with Cat.
Cat is artistic and kind, so Kingmakers doesn’t seem like a natural fit at first. She begins to draw on some of her toughest reserves as she learns there is so much more to her then meets the eye. She’s one of my favorite characters of this series, especially because Sophie Lark is so adept at crafting her growth and transformation.
This story is such a natural arc in this wonderful series. The narration is wonderful and helps bring this story to life. I highly recommend this series, but I really loved this book in particular.

Although this book is a standalone - I would not recommend reading it without having read the first two books. There is so much introduction of Dean and Cat as side characters with really important background information. Having an understanding of their relationship and how Kingmakers has worked only helps provide a more enjoyable read and readers to really appreciate the character growth and redemption on a deeper level.
Cat and Dean were both intriguing characters in the previous book and although they were side characters they really played such a huge role in my opinion. Cat is fierce and a very strong heroine with secrets and one who makes choices to protect those she loves. I wasn't so sure about how I would feel about Dean or what to really expect from him but I was shocked and I so enjoyed his character and all the build-up and redemption! Cat and Dean are opposites who shouldn't work but they had some amazing chemistry and brought out the best in each other. This story flowed perfectly and gives a little more steam than the previous books. A great addition to the Kingmakers, a series that has been very entertaining.
Narrated by Antonio Turner, Gregory Salinas, and Lilly Drake - I really enjoyed all the narrators and their wonderful voices. They could really bring out the emotions in the characters, drawing me into the story.
Cat & Dean - Great Listen!
