About this listen

A weaponized disease has destroyed the United States. Untold millions are dead and millions more wander the wasteland feeding off those that remain. David Gath has returned from the International Space Station to deliver a vaccine to one of the few scientists left alive. Hunted by renegades and haunted by the deaths of his crew, Gath and a handful of survivors have escaped into the frozen ruins of Washington DC, where they must try to keep their promise and stay alive in this new broken world.

Set in the near future, 'The Ragged Man' is the second in a series of post-apocalyptic thrillers that follow a small group of survivors as they struggle to save what is left of humanity.

The Ragged Man is one of those books that hooks you right from the start. The post-apocalyptic world Kline creates feels bleak and eerie, and as you listen, you can almost feel the biting cold and sense the ever-present danger. One scene that stuck with me was a woman in a yellow raincoat falling into a swarm of infected—only to get back up like nothing happened. It’s moments like this that make the story so chilling.

The characters, especially Gath and McCord, are survivors in the truest sense. They’re tough, but you can still feel their fear and exhaustion. It’s not just about fighting off the infected; it’s about fighting to keep their humanity intact in a world gone mad.

The narration captures the tension, the action, and even the dry humor in the characters’ interactions. His voice pulls you in, making it feel like you're right there with them, battling the elements and the infected.

If you’re a fan of post-apocalyptic stories with strong characters and an edge-of-your-seat plot, you won’t be disappointed. This audiobook is a great listen—highly recommended!
