Summary

The Professor is Charlotte Bronte’s first novel, but it was the last one to be published. This book gives listeners a peek into a world of love, intrigue, and the Victorian life. Told in the first person narrative, this is the story of William Crimsworth's life in Brussels during one of the most interesting eras of history.

Bronte’s The Professor may not provide the same passionate struggles the world has come to know through Jane Eyre, but it does give listeners a glimpse into the everyday struggles of the average man in an era when anything was possible. William Crimsworth takes control of his life at a time when many viewed their lot in life as destiny. Through his career as a professor in Brussels to his quest to find true love, Bronte takes the reader on an unforgettable journey into a romantic bygone era.
