It has never been harder to focus than it is now. We live in a noisy, crowded, stressful world that changes so fast, we’re always running to catch up. Traditional education doesn’t give us the skills to manage. And if you live largely in your own head, techniques like mindfulness fall short. In extremes, we turn to external solutions like social media, alcohol, and recreational drugs, just to get some space from our own thoughts.

Thrive or die: That's the rule of evolution. Despite this brutal logic, some species have learned to survive in even the most hostile conditions. Others couldn't - and perished. While incremental genetic adaptations hone the physiology of nearly every creature on this planet, there's another evolutionary force that is just as important: the power of choice. In this explosive investigation into the limits of endurance, journalist Scott Carney discovers how humans can wedge control over automatic physiological responses into the breaking point between stress and biology.

The importance almost lost by repetition
This book has some great advice and methods for improving health. All backed up by science and research. However, I did find the book lost its emphasis with all the added narrative and what felt like a long list of testimonials. I understand it and believe in the method but it was hard work to get the book finished.

I wish I had found this sooner. amazing content. As someone who has suffered with asthma all my life I've tried many methods to improve my athletic performance but I've always had my breathing hold me back. I changed sports and positiona to avoid having to do anything involving high levels of cardiovascular activity but this made things worse. After listening to this book it's really obvious what was going wrong. in now following the programs and after only a few days I'm noticing changes. This is a fantastic book and I can't wait to see my progress following the plans
