Story
In 1800, while crossing the Pennine Alps, Napoleon Bonaparte and his army stumbled across the pillars. Unable to transport them, Napoleon created an inscrutable map on the labels of twelve bottles of rare wine. When Napoleon died, the bottles disappeared - and the gold pillars were lost once again. Treasure-hunters Sam and Remi Fargo are exploring the Great Pocomoke Swamp in Delaware when they are shocked to discover a German U-boat. Inside, they find a bottle taken from Napoleon's 'lost cellar'.

April 1950: The rusting hulk of a steam locomotive rises from the deep waters of a Montana lake. Inside is all that remains of three men who died forty-four years before. But it is not the engine nor its grisly contents that interest the people watching nearby. It is what is about to come next.... 1906: For two years, the western states of America have been suffering an extraordinary crime spree: a string of bank robberies by a single man who then cold-bloodedly murders any and all witnesses, and then vanishes without a trace....

Summary
Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The Oracle, by Clive Cussler.
Husband-and-wife treasure-hunting team Sam and Remi Fargo return for a new adventure as they hunt for ancient treasure - that may or may not be cursed - in this thrilling addition to Clive Cussler's best-selling series.
In AD 533, the last King of the Vandals still rules in northern Africa - but a prophecy reveals that his reign is doomed. Years before, sacred scrolls had been stolen from a high priestess, who cast a curse on the kingdom unless they were returned. The Vandal kingdom falls before the scrolls are ever found - leaving their location a mystery - and their discovery is the perfect challenge for Sam and Remi Fargo.
However, before they can hunt for the scrolls, the Fargos must tend to problems within their charitable foundation. When they learn that a shipment of supplies intended for a school in Nigeria has been stolen, they travel into the heart of Africa to deliver new supplies themselves. However, their mission becomes infinitely more complicated when they run afoul of a rival bands of robbers. One of these groups later takes Remi and a group of students hostage, and there are signs that the kidnapping is related to the missing scrolls. The Fargos will need all of their skills to uncover the hidden treasure and to protect everything they have worked for - and their lives.

Proverbs
The story very good as with most of his books the whole listen was ruined by to introduction of a proverb at the beginning of every chapter, Difficult to speed through to get to story.

I was so disappointed.
I have enjoyed the previous 9 books so much and was looking forward to listening to this one. However I found this one tedious , it took forever to get going and is nowhere near as good as the previous books in my opinion. As for the quotation at the beginning of each chapter, they just drove me insane, please just let me listen to The Story. So I'm going to go back to Mr Dirk Pitt.

Great adventure, treasure hunting, kidnapping ...
Another great Cussler adventure full of excitement, kidnapping and hunting for ancient treasures. The story is well build up and the characters very likable. But beware of false friends... Icing on the cake is the narration by Scott Brick - such a joy to listen to.
