Summary

The most entertaining book on how to trade shares is back!

Ever thought about investing in shares but got frustrated by all the gobbledygook? Bored by all the jargon? Then The Naked Trader is for you! This is the book on stock market investing that you can actually enjoy, written in plain English, packed with real-life trading examples and full of candid advice that you just can't get anywhere else. It's the ideal friend for anyone who wants to make money in the markets.

In this completely updated and expanded fifth edition, Robbie Burns (aka the Naked Trader) gives you the lowdown on what you need to make money from today's markets without having to sit at a screen all day or swallow a financial dictionary. Even better, he shows you how to do it all tax-free!

The first four editions of The Naked Trader flew off the shelves as glowing reviews mounted up. This brand-new edition contains even more of what made it so popular. There are more exclusive tips and ideas, more winning trades shown from start to finish, and more real-life trader tales of triumph and disaster. Not to mention tons of proven strategies that you can use to make money in the markets and a breakdown of some of the trades that have helped Robbie make more than £2 million tax-free.

Trading shares, eating toast, making money.

In between cups of tea, rounds of toast, and watching Deal or No Deal, Robbie tells you all you need to know to become a successful trader: from how to find good shares in the first place, to the best times to buy and sell, as well as how to make sure you have the right mindset for long-term success (it involves an unlikely combination of the secrets of Derren Brown and Dad's Army....). You can also find out how Robbie has even made money during market meltdowns - as well as what his biggest mistakes have been so that you can avoid them!!

If you're a complete beginner, The Naked Trader is the best place to start. But it's also absolutely perfect if you're already trading and want to learn some new, common-sense trading ideas that really work. So whether you just want to make a few quid on the side while you're at work or want to go on to make money from the markets full time and quit work like Robbie, The Naked Trader is everything you've been looking for.

Very informative but some bad advice!

Me and my friend both started investing this year and I decided to spend time learning about it by listening to this audiobook. I found the book very informative and helpful about learning the ropes of the stock market. Unfortunately I think the book has cost me money as one of the mantras is to “cut your losses quickly.” So when my stocks dropped sometimes 15% shortly after buying I would follow Robbie’s advice and cut my losses. Unfortunately for me this usually happened JUST before they bounced back and many are now up 30% - 40%... my friend didn’t listen to the book and just held on through the volatility which is what I should’ve done! Now I’ve learnt my lesson which is to hold and not panic sell. I think the book is aimed at day traders or short term (3 - 6 month investors) looking for a quick grand or two profit and to rinse and repeat. I am lucky enough to have a good income already and was just looking for somewhere to put my saving sand ended up becoming a trade addict spending hours researching companies. If I just chucked £20k into Apple when I started I would’ve doubled my money by now haha! Anyway still quite a useful book but not aimed at a long term investor who doesn’t want to give up their job and become a trader.

An excellent book

I have listened to the previous edition. And this edition is even better. I highly recommend it.

Good overview

Good overview of the markets, a little basic at the beginning but then he goes into credible approaches and how to evaluate companies. Don't expect penny stock guidance, aimed at the FTSE 250 and FTSE 100.

Great Content but....

Robbie provides some great information but did advise on not investing till you have around £3000 saved. There is little information on Index funds which after reading a number of books is a great starting point for beginners with limited money to invest especially when investing regularly. Still lots of brilliant advice and well worth listening to for topping up your investing knowledge.

Great book but lack of charts frustrating

Love the overall content of the book but every time they mention a chart from the print version the don’t even bother the read the figures just state ‘as you can see’.. but we can’t. The print version would get a 5 from me but important figures missing and no accompanying pdf in toe I can’t give the audio full ratings.

Also needs a real update of crypto currency but I guess in 2019 most people wrote BTC and others off as dead wood.. different story now though.

Just completed a re-read!

I love Robbie’s books. They tell it like it is, straightforward and to the point. Everything is explained clearly, both positives and negatives of trading. No flowery language or jargon. I think that this is the third time that I’ve bought The Naked Trader as the new editions cover invariable changes in the markets. Check out his other books too. An excellent read!

Great Book

Read so many investment books and finally find one that speaks English. Fantastic book that Gives you great confidence that you are doing the right (and the wrong things) and explains why so simply that anyone gets it. Will book a seminar next. Also great narrator, Steve Clapham used a robot for his book, huge mistake, couldn’t listen after chapter one (sorry Steve). This is the only audio book I have ever given a rating.

Informative

I have made many of the mistakes Robbie mentions in this book, luckily only with small amounts. Though a great listen I feel I need to buy this book so refer to in the future if I'm going to follow the methodology.

Do not follow this book

Do yourself a favor. Put this down and buy Andrew Hallam- Millionaire Teacher.

Notice he doesn’t even touch on ETF’s?

Read Simple Path to Wealth too.

Do not trust this guy. Anyone who promoted their own products should not be trusted.

You CANNOT tome the market.
You WILL lose your money if you follow this guy.

I do agree on the tea and toast though.
