Summary

Times have changed for Alwyn Scribe. Once an outlaw, he's now a spymaster and sworn protector of Lady Evadine Courlain, whose visions of a demonic apocalypse have earned her the fanatical devotion of the faithful.

Yet Evadine's growing fame has put her at odds with both Crown and Covenant. As trouble brews in the kingdom, both seek to exploit her position for their own ends.

Sent to the Duchy of Alundia to put down a rebellion, Alwyn must rely on old instincts to fight for his new cause. Deadly feuds and ancient secrets are laid bare as war erupts, a war that will decide the fate of the Kingdom of Albermaine and, perhaps, prevent the coming of the prophesied Second Scourge.

The Martyr is the sequel to The Pariah and continues the ruthless and gripping fantasy epic from New York Times bestseller Anthony Ryan, whose books have sold more than a million copies worldwide.

Definitely worth a read

I haven’t read all of Anthony Ryan’s work but I have enjoyed all that I have and this is no exception. Stephan Brand does an excellent job narrating his audiobook as usual.

Steven Brand is an outstanding narrator.

His narration enables the listener to become thoroughly immersed - he is the best narrator I have heard. Anthony Ryan continues to write well, weaving his words into a compelling storyline.

Excellent sequel

Better than the curse book which was extremely good. The increasing amount of mystic elements have me hooked! Straight to book 3 for me!

Even better second time around!

In anticipation of book 3 coming out, I re bought and listened to this book while reading the 3rd book. It builds upon the characters and world of book 1 excellently. very good narration.

Lovely sequel

Loved it from beginning to end. As is the case with most sequels, the reading the first book before this one is recommended for most of the context and world building, though this title provides enough background information on its own to get you into the story. It does feel a bit like a bridge between the first book and the next one (probably last of the series), but I enjoyed it nonetheless!

My favorite story teller at this time. Really builds fantastic characters that you really draw the reader deeper into the story.

Blessed Be The Lady's Cheeks

Fantastic book and narration, a little clichéd, but delightful nonetheless. Alwyn, you dirty, dirty man.
