About this listen

Not a legend. Not a protector. Not even a sorcerer. Tarak was just fine with that until, in a single day, his whole world was taken from him.

Tarak is thrown into a strange city with just a few coppers in his pocket and the tainted shadow of his family following him. At least the ale is better, but famine and poverty make it a little hard to enjoy that. With no one to call his friend and almost no knowledge of sorcery, Tarak will have to compete with the best sorcerers if he wishes to remain free.

Tarak has done a pretty good job of avoiding what his single-minded father called his "destiny" for seventeen years, but now his identity is revealed, and it's drawing more attention than a tear through the rump of his pants.

It's looking like an uphill road, but there are some major bonuses. It turns out sorcery is not as complicated as his father made it seem, and not every sorcerer has to be as virtuous as the old dog.

I won't try to pretend this was the best fantasy book i have heard, but it was a fun and at times laugh at loud book that ticked alot of my boxes, the one thing i did enjoy alot was the magic system and can't wait to see it expanded on.

Overall this was a great, easy to follow book that would be suitable for people not looking for a billion page high fantasy that has 500 characters and so many intertwining paths that it may as well be a maze.

tldr: I ended up enjoying it alot and cant wait for the next.

Took the chance and don't regret it

I enjoyed the humour in this one. The story starts off strong and enjoyable, with decent world building and a logical magic system. This all fell apart though once the main plot line was revealed. The story became more and more predictable and, quite frankly, boring. The humour carried it through, and I can't say this was a bad book. It's worth the credit I spent on it, but I doubt I'd buy the next.

Good but majorly flawed

I enjoyed the story alot and it was pretty funny at times but the hardest thing to look past was the voice used for certain characters it just reminded me of Kermit the frog and and seriousness of the chapter just didn't strike as much when spoken like kermit but was funny to listen too
