Audible's Bedtime Stories are designed to let you drift off with no nagging feeling that you need to listen through to the end. Their purpose is to let you slowly fall into peaceful, restful sleep.

Step into a lighthouse perched by the sea, maintained diligently by Arthur, a former sailor. As he performs his daily tasks and reflects on his seafaring days, the waves crash and he finds peace in the balance of solitude and service.

I'd expected a more mysterious or whimsical tale. Compared with lighthouse topics on Stephen Dalton and Michelle's Sanctuary podcasts here on Audible it was a little dull. The narrator was adequate, no grating voice mercifully, but at times you could sense her reading from a script or screen. Josie Adams is a good writer but I don't think this was her best.

Prosaic and a bit humdrum

I rarely make time for stories. But I wanted something short and stumbled across this beautifully simple tale. Written so well, I was transported into the heart of the lighthouse. Breathing every sigh. Feeling every touch.
I confess I chose it for the narrator and I’m really glad I did.

A simple story. Full of visual clarity.

I fell asleep a short way into to this story 6 different times, so it clearly works. Then this morning I plugged in at 4am and didn't sleep but really listened; inconsistencies in the story (or my 4am brain) mean I can't use it again....

sleepy story, read not narrated....
