Vice President-elect Tom Ainsley is awakened to find that President-elect Jim Washburn has died in a plane crash, making Ainsley now President-elect. He feels strongly that he can bring positive leadership to a badly divided country if the people only get to know him. His sudden critical heart attack a few weeks before the inauguration leaves the country without any President and starts a struggle for power inside a divided Congress, a partisan Supreme Court and an obsessed Speaker of the House.
Concerned with all this lack of unity, the honored Chairman of the Joint Chiefs announces he will take over the military if not President is in charge. Lurking in the background is an Iranian Ayatollah who believes this would be a prefect time to attached his country's most hated enemy. Find out if the Constitution will hold up in this unfathomable crisis and whether the United States will come together to combat a deadly military threat in The Last President.
