About this listen

Fans of Bridgerton will fall in love with this sparkling Regency romance from best-selling author Jane Ashford! The duke of Tereford is accustomed to getting his own way, but she's going to teach him a thing or two about love....

James Cantrell, the new duke of Tereford, has inherited a dukedom in disarray and is overwhelmed by his unaccustomed responsibilities. Then he gets an idea. Cecelia Vainsmede served as liaison between James and her father, and she knows a great deal about business matters, his own in particular. She's also quite pretty. Ever the pragmatist, he suggests a marriage of convenience.

Cecelia has always been good at working with James, but she doesn't understand how he can be so obtuse. He clearly doesn't realize that he's the duke she's always wished for, or that his offer is an insult. But when a German prince arrives in London and immediately sets out to woo Cecelia, James will have to come to terms with what he really feels for her. Is running away worth the cost of losing her, or will the duke dare to win her once and for all?

The narrator, Rosalin Landor, is the best thing about this novel.

The male lead, is juvenile and irrationally competitive and the female lead, who is portrayed as a sensible, levelheaded and feisty woman, does a TOTALLY out of character action (or maybe I should say ‘inaction’), in Vauxhall Gardens!

Everything action/activity is unexplained and incredulous. I’m happy the this was a Plus Catalogue title, because I would not have liked to have used a credit for this.

Juvenile and therefore long and boring

Another well read and enjoyable story Rosalind Landor always brings the stories to life although the author once again hit on a great plot

Enjoyable

Misunderstandings, concealed love and a nasty prince are the main ingredients. A few silly references to fairy tales and the usual Americanisms grate a bit. Rosalyn Landor is as treacly as ever but she's really good at voices.

Sweet

Liked this a lot, especially the humour. I intend to buy more by this author.

Great story

A new author for me but now I want to read all her works. The story was full of period details & short on angst. The principle lady was strong & capable with so much more to her than the usual heroines if the genre. I could easily read a follow up because the characters were so compelling. The narrator was also excellent 👍

Adorable, packed with period details & a lovely read.
