Summary

Strong as a Viking. Handsome as Adonis. Rich as Midas. Collin "Cole" Talmage, Duke of Trewyth, is the stuff that legends are made of. He's the English Empire's golden son - until fate has its way with him. Cole's family is killed and his closest comrade betrays him on the battlefield, leaving him gravely injured. But Cole is not one to dwell on misfortune. He is a man of duty, honor, and desire. And now he's ready for the fight of his lifetime....

Imogen Pritchard is a beautiful lass who works in a hospital by day and as a serving maid at night. Years ago, when she was young and penniless, she ended up spending a scandalous night with Cole, whose tormented soul was matched only by his earth-shattering passion. Imogen entered a marriage of convenience - one that left her a wealthy widow - but she never forgot Cole. Now that her long-lost lover has turned up in her hospital, injured and with no memory of her, Imogen is torn. Is it a blessing or a curse that their past remains a secret to Cole, even as his new passion for her leaves him wanting to protect and possess her at all costs? Contains mature themes.

Another stunning addition to the series

It’s wonderful to read another standalone book which is part of a series of interconnected characters which means you still get sightings of the other charming characters while reading about the journey of one couple. The Victorian world which is evoked is mysterious and attractive even when it is murky and unpleasant. The charm of the characters and their survival through terrible odds has a redemptive quality that is positively Dickensian while being translatable into the modern view. I get choked up in the best, most heartlifting ways with Kerrigan Byrne’s stories and the wonderful voice of Derek Perkins. And the romance is as hot and perfectly wonderfully steamy as the story is richly detailed and well rounded. The torture of being captivated into following the twists and turns until the end is pure bliss! Kerrigan Byrne has a way of delivering on steam early on without compromising the slow burn of the romance. It’s absolutely perfect.

Good plot

As usual, the author and narrator are a perfect team. This audiobook has a unique story, and the characters’ steamy chemistry and the mystery kept me hooked.

Great series

This is very much in line with the other books in the series with alpha males and angel females, gets a bit samey when heard in succession. However I love how the series is panning out i like how the couple's and characters interact. Dorian is still may fave and the Marquis a close second but this was good.
I really rate this narrator but his Liverpool accent is woeful, although he still keeps his male characters voices definable which is quite a feat.
overall for me not the best of the series but enjoyable nevertheless.

1 brilliant story after another

Loved every second of it. I couldn't stop listening. It's one brilliant story after another. This series is the first I've listened to of Kerrigan Byrne and it will not be the last. Im loving her books she is now one of my favourite authors. As for Derek Perkins he's a brilliant narrator. And a good narrator makes the story even better. Unfortunately a lot of audible narrators are awful and ruin a story completely. But Derek Perkins is definitely one of my favourite narrators. Love his narrating.

Well delivered Kerrigan!

When the author manage to steer loving or hating emotions toward the main characters... it is deemed a success... well done... and Mr Perkins narration truely brings the characters alive...very enjoyable story and audio version is extremely spectacular. I just took one star off the story as I truly hated the hero... all the way even at the sensed rushed end ... I could not see how the heroine forgave him just like that... however it did not take away from the well rounded story especially when bringing back other lovable charecters from the previous series... Thank you Ms Kerrigan.
