Summary

A mysterious archive. A powerful enemy. And a cunning plan.

Librarian spy Irene thought her to-do list would be her undoing. She's on missions for both the Library and a dear friend - the detective Vale. And she’s also training her new Fae apprentice, who's more interested in the stacks than sleuthing. But now someone is trying to kidnap her and kill her friends.

As Irene, Kai and Vale try to track down the would-be assassin, they uncover a plot. It’s even more insidious than usual and could threaten Irene’s headquarters, Vale’s home and the Library itself. Someone is creating links between high-chaos worlds and Vale's world. Someone who wants Irene well out of the way - and will do anything to make this happen. When the allies’ investigation takes a wrong turn, they find themselves trapped deep underground. And while they wander among long-abandoned archives, Irene's old enemies are closing in.

The Dark Archive is the seventh book in the Invisible Library series by Genevieve Cogman.

Thank goodness they changed the narrator!

Genevieve Cogman’s books are always 4 or 5 stars in my opinion. But until now, I stayed away from the audiobooks because the narration was dreadful.
I was so happy to discover that there was a new narrator! Kristin Atherton does a brilliant job of bringing the characters to life.
I can’t wait for the next!

change of narrator took a bit of getting used to, but for the better I think.

Edge of my seat!

Loved this most recent book in the Invisible Library series - great to spend time with Irene, Kai and Katherine and as usual, drama and plot twists kept me on the edge of my seat. More please!

Plot twists galore!

Love it! Love it! Love it!

As usual there's lots of plot twists and the ever widening cast keeps the story fresh. I also enjoyed learning more of the main characters foibles and backstory.

I saw foreshadows of one of the major twist but kept thinking I was on the wrong track! It was exciting seeing it come to fruition but I'm still left with so many questions!

I still prefer the original narrator but the story was strong enough to overlook this. I don't know how I'm gonna wait another year for the next instalment! Keep up the fantastic work!

Narrator Change

I really don’t care for the change in narration. It completely changes how I perceive the characters. They come off as stuffier and less alive. They are more one dimensional. I do training videos, and some AI voiceover apps would have worked as nearly as well.

I don’t know that I’ll buy the next book in the audio format.

another adventure

this was another great adventure. there were new characters introduced as well as maintaining old ones. it was great for fans because it did reference older stories. and the main female character is still strong as ever.

Fabulous

I absolutely adore this series! I started reading it years ago. After having children, I've found it hard to actually sit down and read. So, when I saw that they were being released here on Audible, I was so so excited! 10/10 would absolutely recommend to others
