About this listen

Includes all five books of The Rhenwars Saga!

“A richly realized and immersive world” (Ed McDonald, author of Blackwing)

The Well of Tears was created to harness the power of the Netherworld to prevent a magical apocalypse. Now Darien Lauchlin is the last surviving mage capable of reversing the destruction the Well unleashed. Darien will be forced to sacrifice everything of himself and everyone around him—all to preserve a nation of people who despise him.

The Rhenwars Saga is a sprawling epic set in a morally gray world where there is no clear distinction between hero and villain.

Download this special edition collection to experience epic battles, flawed heroes, and a brutal struggle where the triumph of good over evil is never guaranteed.

If you enjoy the dark, sprawling world of Steven Erikson, the awe-inspiring magic of The Wheel of Time, and the compelling antiheroes of C.S. Friedman, then you’ll love The Rhenwars Saga.

First of all, I listened to Darkstorm first and only then listened to rest of the pentalogy and I must say, I personally think that's the best reading order.

The way Darkstorm ends perfectly sets up rest of the series, and I immediately knew what was coming after finishing it. However it's pretty obvious that it was written after rest of the series, because it doesn't explain the magic system. That said, I honestly don't mind learning the basics AFTER already listening to part of the story so I was perfectly fine with that.

I think the characters were written quite well, nobody is simply a flawless hero, but the cast isn't full of nothing but unlikable people either. There's plenty of character growth in the series and I personally didn't find any of it confusing or rushed, like how I do with a lot of series.

Also anyone who's willing to sell a complete version of their entire series as one audiobook earns at least some sort of a seal of approval right away. It's far easier to get into a series when it's not a big monetary investment.

What an awesome series
