About this listen

'Baldacci is the master' – Jeffery Archer

In equal parts hilarious, poignant, suspenseful and thrilling, The Christmas Train is a delightful journey filled with memorable characters who have packed their bags with as much wisdom as mischief . . .

Disillusioned journalist Tom Langdon must get from Washington to LA in time for Christmas. Forced to take the train across the country because of a slight 'misunderstanding' at airport security, he begins a journey of self-discovery and rude awakenings, mysterious goings-on and thrilling adventures, screwball escapades and holiday magic.

He has no idea that the locomotives pulling him across America will actually take him into the rugged terrain of his own heart, where he will rediscover people's essential goodness and someone very special he believed he had lost.

Adapted for the screen as The Christmas Train, a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, starring Dermot Mulroney, Danny Glover, Joan Cusack and Kimberly Williams-Paisley.

A brilliant love story that starts with loads of misunderstanding and mistrust , it is a brilliant listen as the characters unfold with a few twists here and there, narration was very good and bad me chuckling in places

Brilliant compelling love story on a train

This book is so different from many of Baldacci's other books. No violence, no guns, no brave heroes or sassy heroines. Just full richly drawn characters combined with the romance of transcontinental rail travel. Delicious!

Enchanting

A great idea for the storyline and entertaining for the most but the themes got a bit childish towards the end. Well read, it made perfect reading for a journey as each chapter was an episode in the main story. Definitely had the feelgood factor.

An entertaining storyline

There was a nice load of characters in the story which as times jumped about, not badly. Makes you thinks about what people can do and who they really are.

Comedy was so good.

such a real, unexpected treat. Such a evocative setting and storyline No need for guts or gore Baldacci kept me captive with great charectars and plot twists. superb vocalisation by Matheson who created an equally impressive set of voices & accents made for a journey I am sure to take again.

sheer delight!
