Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Thea Harrison

A Wolf on the hunt...

Wulfgar Hahn, better known as the Wolf of Braugne, is a man on a mission. Determined to avenge the murder of his brother, he stops at Camaeline Abbey to meet with the Chosen of Camael, goddess of the Hearth. Unfortunately, it appears the Chosen wants nothing to do with him.

A leader in disguise...

Captivated by the Wolf of Braugne despite herself, Lily poses as an unassuming priestess in order to learn more about this ruthless man. But things are not as they seem, and after foiling an assassination attempt, Lily must decide if Wulf is the destroyer from her visions or the hero of her dreams.

A choice to be made...

As war looms on the horizon, passion sparks between them, but an enduring relationship between a soldier on the march and a leader who reveres hearth and home is impossible - or is it? Among the swirling snows of the winter Masque, the gods and goddesses of the Elder Races dance, and love will find a way.

Thea does it again

The tales Thea spins is, like her previous Elder novels, well written and full of wonderful characters. My only complaint is that it was too short. I enjoy her tales so much that I want the story to continue...and a novella is way too short!

Awesome Short

This is a terrific short story. I love these characters! I wish many sequels were already written so I could live in this world for days. Thank you, Thea, for your rich stories with beautiful, wise descriptions.

Great aside story

Like the Tarot novellas, these are not the known characters from Ms Harrison's Elder series. But as always, she has shared with us great characters and wonderful story.

This time we get to spend the entire story in an 'Other Land'!

Wish it was longer

I found the story to be well written and charming. This is described as a novella of the Elder Races, but do not expect any previous characters to appear.
Set in the Other land of Ys, Lily is The Chosen of Camael, goddess of the Hearth. It’s not clear why Wulfgar Hahn, Protector of Braugne has stopped in this tiny principality of the Camaeline Abbey, but they watch with caution at his approach. Has he committed all the horrors the rumors claim? What might they have to do with his rival, the King of Guerlan? Lily, on behalf of Camaeline, will have to determine who is the real danger, and if they can remain neutral in their conflict. And she has to find out which one is her dream lover, and which one the monster.
I really like Eastlake‘s voice and her work on this series. Just wish she got some more practice time on some pronunciations.

Not up to her usual level but still ok

I love the Elder Races series, and Thea Harrison normal is a rock star. This one... was a little lacking. I'm not sure if this is book one of a trilogy or just was the victim of a rather horrible ending.... if it's part of a series, then... ok. If it's a stand a lone... wasn't happy with the ending. Was very abrupt... so either needed to be an actual book or part of a series or...

But I strongly recommend the author in general. Start with book 1 of the Elder Races though... you'll be hooked.

the story ended when it only seemed to be getting started. the story was great as usual but I was disappointed with the length and how it ended. especially compared to other Thea Harrison books. To bad really.
