Summary

Pickax loves a big occasion. The Great Food Expo is about to begin, introducing new restaurants, country inns, food specialty shops and a new food page in the "Moose County Something." Lurking in the background is a killer determined to make this an event Pickax City will never forget.

The Expo begins with a literal bang: a bomb wrecks the hotel, killing a housekeeper and causing extensive damage. Luckily for Pickax, Qwill is on the scene, his moustache twitching with suspicions that this bomb was intended as something stronger than a warning to someone. His evidence: Koko and Yum Yum's new interest in cheese, especially Gruyere, Brie and Feta. Qwill and the Siamese are on a case that will demand all their feline intuition and mustachioed insight!

One of the BEST!

This was an especially great listen, one of the best, I think. George Guidall's voice is perfect for the wry humour and wisdom of the main character; I can almost feel the moustache!! Highly recommended

What can I find right with this book... Everything.
I know that when I pick up a " The Cat Who..." book I'm in for a very good read / listen. Qwill as always stands up for those who can't do so for them selves. 😺😺😉

An acquired taste

I found this series of books by accident. I love George Guidall's voice and have listened to a few of the stories more than once because of this. This story is similar to others in the series. Its gentle, familiar and easy.

Delight light

If you could sum up The Cat Who Said Cheese in three words, what would they be?

Simple pleasure here

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes

Any additional comments?

Ms. Braun's books are not for the heavy handed listener but are delightful like candy for your brain. The charters are believable and the cats endearing. George Guidall all ways gives a good read.

Irresistibly Implausible

Fun, lighthearted mystery novel. Not for those seeking grit, but great literary escapism. While there's a high body count, descriptions of violence are kept minimum. (Heads up, possible spoiler: while mostly easy listening, this novel does contain some descriptions of spousal abuse.) This is among the stronger Cat Who titles, and Guidall's narration is fantastic.

sweet

I absolutely love her style of writing, and the fact that she doesn't assume the her readers have a lack of intelligence. I enjoy the fact that on occasion I get to put my dictionary to use.

Smile and say Cheese

When cheese is the basic star you know the writer is good. (learned a lot about cheese) It's amazing how Lilian was able to make cheese one of the star components and make it work so well in the story. Love the easy pace. Just lay back and listen. Enjoy!

good book

plot was weak, why a woman looking to hide would return to a town she honeymoons in, is a foolish idea. the wholesale killing spree in a small town, also a poor idea. the clues were not that good, even the main character didn't put it together untill after the fact. this is a book best suited to people that like the car who series. the narrator did a good job bring the characters to life.
