About this listen

The name's Daniels, Jack Daniels - just like the whiskey you know. I'm a private detective. And I can't help butting my nose into other people's business. It's what I do. You get used to it. It becomes a way of life almost. After a while it comes natural to you, automatic, like breathing, or eating, although not quite as enjoyable. It's a habit that I just can't break. I just can't help it.

But sometimes it can lead you into trouble....

I downloaded this book on the recommendation of a dear friend a fiction crime writer.
Jack Daniels is a great character with a sense of fair play, an attitude that the fairer sex are to be protected, and an honest approach to life.
I did struggle sometimes with the heavy accent of Joe Vorgler who narrates this book, he has an almost wheezy voice and lisp.

An enjoyable way to spend an evening

This guy may be a little crazy! The rambling he does is hilarious at some parts but he did well at solving his mystery. A quick and enjoyable listen.

A good start. To what I hope promises to be a thrilling new crime series. For me to enjoy Jack seems to be quite smart and good at his job. Even if it seems to me he has a soft spot for the ladies. I really enjoyed listening to this.

Jack's on the case.

So short and still John Holt was able to create an amazing story, I’m truly amazed.
Coupled with the narration by Joe Voegler who have done a good job at that made this audiobook truly enjoyable.

Fully recommended for all !!!

My honest review even so that I got this audiobook for free.

Surprisingly really good !

When I first saw Jack Daniels, P.I. I couldn't help thinking of J.A.Konrath's Lieutenant Jacqueline 'Jack' Daniels series, of which I've read several. This is nothing like those books.

The story is good and entertaining, though the stle made me think of Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer, as if the character is talking to the audience, or retelling the tale over a bar. The characters were nicely written and the plot moved along well and kept me interested.

Sadly the narration really let the book down with Joe Voegler's drawling monotone having very little life and seeming as though he was in a rush to get the words out, often running one sentence into another without a breath between. Very hard to listen to and it let book down in my opinion.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author and am voluntarily writing an honest and unbiased review.

Good story, poor narration
