About this listen

What is cancer? What causes it, and why do some people get it, while others don’t?

And with so much conflicting information now available – who can we really trust for sensible medical advice anyway?

‘We wholeheartedly recommend The Cancer Roadmap’ The Bone Cancer Research Trust

‘This book is essential, both a courageous no-nonsense companion and a comforting balm.’ Donna Ashworth

We all want certainty and hope for ourselves or those we love after a cancer diagnosis, but what we really need is honesty and truth.

In The Cancer Roadmap, breast cancer surgeon and three-time cancer patient Dr Liz O’Riordan confronts the big cancer truths (and myths), offering clear, evidence-based answers. She breaks down the latest research to give the facts you need to make informed treatment decisions that are right for you or your loved one.

She gives definitive answers to common questions such as:

  • Is it your fault you got cancer?
  • Do you need to stop drinking alcohol?
  • Can you cure cancer by changing your diet?
  • Does alternative medicine work better than chemo?

Dr Liz also suggests meaningful, practical steps to reduce the risk of future recurrence, even when the odds feel stacked against you.

Let her guide you through your cancer journey with confidence and clarity, and give you the best chance of your cure.

Finally… a clear and genuinely helpful guidebook for cancer patients!

Liz explains everything in such a clear and reassuring way—I finally feel like we have someone we can truly trust. Getting all the information you need from your surgeon or oncologist can be tough. Appointments are short, and often, you only think of the important questions afterward.

I never considered stopping my treatment after my BC surgery, but struggling on Tamoxifen led me to explore other options. I fell into the world of alternative treatments (like Chris Wark’s approach), spending a fortune on organic fruit and veg, juicing non-stop, and essentially living like a rabbit. I lasted about four weeks before I just couldn’t keep it up anymore—and when I stopped, I felt like a failure for not sticking with it after listening to so many podcasts preaching that path.

Liz cuts through all the misinformation we’re bombarded with. When I was diagnosed at 43 with three young kids, I went into complete panic mode. Her book is so well-researched, and in my view, she is an incredibly trusted and reliable source of knowledge.

I’m beyond grateful for the clarity and reassurance she provides. I can now move forward without beating myself up, wondering if my cancer was somehow my fault. Sometimes, it really is just crappy luck. And knowing that eating healthily and exercising—without extreme, unsustainable measures—is just as beneficial (if not more!) is such a relief. Plus, it’s a whole lot more enjoyable than living on juices!

Thank you so much for this, Liz! xxx

This book helped me when I was diagnosed a second time with cancer and I found it very helpful. Liz answers most of the questions I am asking myself. Why does it occur? What can I do to prevent it. There is a very strong focus on the risk of alternative treatment, a bit too much to my liking.
