About this listen

Patrick fell for Julie in kindergarten when she shared her snack with him. As her childhood best friend, he adored and protected her for years, until she gave her heart to someone else. Loving Julie meant letting her choose her own path, so he did the gentlemanly thing and bowed out of her life, but never stopped loving her from afar.

When Patrick returns to Jasper Falls for his brother’s wedding, Julie is there - alone - and he decides it’s time to hang his heart on the line, but Julie has been keeping secrets, too.

Is it ever too late for a first love? When it comes to Julie Cook, there could never be another. And, this time, Patrick Clooney is determined to prove himself as the best man.

The Best Man, was a very fast-paced, small-town romance. Patrick is heading back to Jasper Falls for a wedding with his bestie Jo, he has crushed on Jo's twin Julie since childhood but thinks he will never get a shot. This is a journey of watching Patrick and Jo slip into a "fake relationship" only for them to learn Julie is now single. There was a multitude of events and small-town gossip to keep the story moving but at times I would have liked to see more for some situations. This was my first book in the Jasper Falls series and I think I would enjoy it even more if I had been familiar with the characters since it's not told in just dual POV.

Ashley Trumpler - was an enjoyable voice narrating this story! My only struggle was keeping characters/scenes straight as there wasn't much voice variation between all the characters.

Overall - It was an enjoyable and quick listen and would try another book by the author.

Pat has always treasured his friendship with Julie and always wanted the best for her even if that meant that she would be with another man. Pat has recently returned to his hometown to not only attend his brother’s wedding but to open up his medical practice. He has agreed to pretend to be dating his friend Jo, Julie’s sister, to make their homecoming easier for both of them but finding out that not only was Julie attending but that she was alone was a complication he wasn’t expecting.

Julie thought she had her Prince Charming and her happy ever after all planned out only to find out that the truth was much different. She certainly wasn’t expecting that the feelings he now inspired in her went beyond friends especially since he is dating her sister. Let the fun begin!

This is a heartwarming story about love, family and new beginnings. Between the secrets and misunderstandings they definitely had some challenges to overcome but there is no denying they belong together. The narrator did a great job with all the characters.

I loved this book!

Patrick has been crushing on Julie since kindergarten, however, life had different plans for these two and they soon grew apart. Years later, Patrick is set to return to Jasper Fall's for his brother's wedding, knowing he will soon see Julie.

I loved this audiobook so much. Patrick is perfect! Being Irish myself, I am very particular about reading books based on Irish families, however, Lydia Michaels got the culture perfectly! (I will admit when I heard Patrick's mother's voice, I thought to myself, do we really sound like that! haha!).
This family unit is so tight, supportive and I loved it!

Julie has had a few struggles, fortunately, she is strong and knows what has to be done! Together Patrick and Julie are perfect. I will admit, they did get together very quickly and I thought Patrick's feelings towards Julie were stronger, but they share such a bond, I couldn't help but love them.

Overall, I recommend this book. It is part of a series however it can be read as a standalone.

Such an amazing book

This was a quick, emotion packed story. The characters were flawed and yet completely relatable in those flaws. It was sweet to see them come together after everything. I adore this series, so it was nice to read one more piece of it.

Ashley Trumpler did well with this audiobook. I'm not the biggest fan of her male voice, but other than that, I really enjoyed it.

Good

This is the second book in the Jasper Falls series, a small town romance. This is a good addition to the series. This story is less emotional than the first book in the series. Patrick and Julie's second chance to love is sweet, romantic, and heartwarming. Patrick is handsome, caring, and supportive. Julie is strong, and determined. I loved to follow them in their journey to love. Ashley Trumpler did a great job with the narration. Looking forward to listening to Love Me Nots, the next book in the series.
