Summary

Job Pressure

Colin MacIntyre's life as a NASA astronaut might not have been exciting, but at least it was orderly. Unfortunately, he's been tapped for greater things, and he isn't too sure he likes it.

First he was kidnapped by an ancient, self-aware starship masquerading as Earth's moon. Then he was drafted as its captain to suppress a 5,000-year-old mutiny. And then he had to mobilize the planet against the attack of an eons-old ancient menace dedicated to the eradication of all intelligent life in the galaxy!

It's hard to blame him for feeling a little stressed, but there's something Colin MacIntyre doesn't know about all the things he's had to do.

They were the easy part.

still Charming; the narration is getting better

This book is still just incredibly Charming while at the same time I bit juvenile. Like its predecessor this book is like a classic B movie that everyone loves despite is corniness.

It has the same narrator and he is getting better. There are still these really weird transitions between scenes. The narrator doesn't put gaps between scene changes so you don't realize that he's on their planet and he's talking about somebody else half-a-second after talking about spa day on planet Earth. lol

Start with Book 1

I'm amazed at all of the 5 star reviews. I can only guess that those readers started with the first book in the series. I highly recommend that. It took me 4.5 hours (with multiple restarts) to gain comfort with the storyline and all of the characters. Even then there were only sections of the book that I enjoyed. It felt like I started in the middle of the story and never caught up.

Better than book 1

Weber did a better job delivering an interesting and exciting story. I'm glad I decided to get book 2 despite my unhappiness with book 1. I was able to get into this story and became vested in some if the characters. I'll look for book 3. The narration was solid and well done, but nothing stood out with the performance.

Great listen!

I love the story of Dahak, told in a way that you could believe it could actually be true. I read the books and have listened to the series at least 3 times through and it never gets old!
