We all know how it feels to want people to like us, to approve of us, to accept us. It’s part of what makes us human. And there’s nothing wrong with wanting to support other people and help them satisfy their needs. The problem comes when we give up our own needs along the way. Because when we give to make others like us or approve of us, to shore up our own sense of self-worth, to feel needed or to avoid painful emotions, then we give to get. And rarely do we get what we really need.

Not for me
Really struggled to get into this. It just felt like I was party to a rather tatty AA session, I didn't enjoy this at all. It felt like a quick pep talk from somebody sharing their own experiences coupled with some stuff taken from Google and the NHS website to pad it out.
I didn't feel connected at all, listening to this felt more like a lecture; dictating with regular taps on the backside.
The longer this went on, the more I cringed until I could listen no more.
I really didn't feel like the author tried to make a genuine connection with her readers.

Good but not for me
I listened to this book quite quickly. The author is easy to listen to and her personal experiences bring a better level of credibility and likability.
However, this book didn't really help me with more of a obsessive anxiety and I feel that if you're suffering badly, or a specific form of anxiety, this might just scratch the surface and provide a level of explanation behind the reasoning instead of significantly helping.

An essential read for anyone who suffers anxiety
One of the most helpful books I’ve ever listened to regarding the topic.
The author was relatable and tackled all aspects of the condition, using scientific research to help the reader better understand the thought process behind anxiety.
There was a lot of thought provoking statements made and I feel personally far more liberated from anxious thoughts since purchasing this book. I would go as far as to say that this book is an essential book to read/listen to if you suffer from the condition of anxiety. It helps you understand yourself far better and leaves you feeling calmer and more confident in your everyday life.
I 100% recommend the book.
The audiobook is fantastic for listening to if you’re in the shower/cleaning.

Pseudo science
What would have made The Anxiety Solution better?
Objective facts alongside the many anecdotes. Assumptions passed off casually.
Has The Anxiety Solution put you off other books in this genre?
Yes. Massively so.
What didn’t you like about Chloe Brotheridge’s performance?
A book for women by women. Men suffer too, and to be disparaged by authors pseudo-science about how women have it worse, despite all the science pointing the other way, isn't very nice.
What character would you cut from The Anxiety Solution?
N/A
Any additional comments?
Avoid if you're looking for help, as this is a pointless anecdote-laden brain-dump by the author, and a cynical way of earning money publishing a book.

A surprisingly wise guide to a more serene life
This book is clearly aimed at readers decades younger than I am, but I found the author's many suggestions quite practical, original, and straightforward. I long ago resolved many of the issues of life, love, and work referred to in the book, but I have never learned to have a quiet mind so I was drawn to the title.I liked her conversational tone and gentle humor. Also, I enjoyed the author's reading of her own book; she was authentic and convincing and even entertaining , considering that this is a book on a serious subject.

There is a lot of good tips in this book and I like the music that comes with the exercises. The book is for people with "light" anxieties and worries I think, and since mine now is because of a loss of a family member it does not going into such nough helping. but ok book listening too, in order to keep the mind on something more helpfull thoughts. Also nice that the book is devided into different thematics like sleep and food.
