Story
Since premiering in the summer of 2016, Stranger Things has become a global phenomenon. It also restored in vivid detail the pulse and feel of a decade: the 1980s. Indeed, the show's creators - the Duffer brothers - describe the series as "a love letter to the '80s". From its synth soundtrack, to its retro fonts, to its nostalgic nods to Spielberg and Stephen King, Stranger Things is populated with references, homages, and artifacts from the Reagan era. This audiobook dives deep into that world, revealing everything you wanted to know about the series and its influences.

In case you're wondering, this is not a love story. My name is Tori Spring. I like to sleep and I like to blog. Last year - before all that stuff with Charlie and before I had to face the harsh realities of A-Levels and university applications and the fact that one day I really will have to start talking to people - I had friends. Things were very different, I guess, but that's all over now. Now there's Solitaire. And Michael Holden. I don't know what Solitaire are trying to do, and I don't care about Michael Holden. I really don't.

Return once more to a galaxy far, far away with this sublime retelling of George Lucas’s epic Star Wars in the style of the immortal Bard of Avon. The saga of a wise (Jedi) knight and an evil (Sith) lord, of a beautiful princess held captive and a young hero coming of age, Star Wars abounds with all the valor and villainy of Shakespeare’s greatest plays. ’Tis a tale told by fretful droids, full of faithful Wookiees and fearstome Stormtroopers, signifying...pretty much everything.

The festive season isn't always happy for Tori Spring and her brother, Charlie. And this year's going to be harder than most. I used to think that difficult was better than boring, but I know better now.... I’m not going to think about the past few months, about Charlie and me and all of the sad. Summary
Random House presents the audiobook edition of Stranger Things: Suspicious Minds written by Gwenda Bond, read by Kristen Sieh.
A mysterious lab. A sinister scientist. A secret history. If you think you know the truth behind Eleven’s mother, prepare to have your mind turned Upside Down in this thrilling prequel to the hit show Stranger Things.
It’s the summer of 1969, and the shock of conflict reverberates through the youth of America, both at home and abroad. As a student at a quiet college campus in the heartland of Indiana, Terry Ives couldn’t be farther from the front lines of Vietnam or the incendiary protests in Washington. But the world is changing, and Terry isn’t content to watch from the sidelines. When word gets around about an important government experiment in the small town of Hawkins, she signs on as a test subject for the project, code-named MKULTRA.
Unmarked vans, a remote lab deep in the woods, mind-altering substances administered by tight-lipped researchers...and a mystery the young and restless Terry is determined to uncover. But behind the walls of Hawkins National Laboratory - and the piercing gaze of its director, Dr. Martin Brenner - lurks a conspiracy greater than Terry could have ever imagined. To face it, she’ll need the help of her fellow test subjects, including one so mysterious the world doesn’t know she exists - a young girl with unexplainable superhuman powers and a number instead of a name: 008.
Amid the rising tensions of the new decade, Terry Ives and Martin Brenner have begun a different kind of war - one where the human mind is the battlefield.
Critic reviews
"A pacey, creepy book that does what any good prequel should...this is unmistakably Stranger Things." (SFX Magazine)

Essential listening for stranger things fans!
Loved this book, completely gripped from start to finish and read the whole thing within a week! I would recommend this to anyone who is a stranger things fan and has questions about Terry Ives and Doctor Brenner. For me I felt compelled to watch season two again and when I did I had much more interest in several character and scenes in the series. it's great for all fans who want to scratch that itch in the absence of a stranger things release that we should have had by now!
Audio production is great, I thought only one narrator did a good job of so many characters, the story didn't feel to me like it had been retrospectively fitted to the existing plot, as there were a few things that tied in quite nicely with season 2. All in all, five stars!

A little outdated due to season 4 but a good story
I enjoyed listening to this story and liked the narrator. Some of the backstory was good and would have made an excellent standalone novel but some of the storylines don’t combine with the histories given in Season 4 of Stranger Things.
The ending seemed a little rushed and wasn’t as believable as the rest of the story but still a good read for stranger things fans

After reading some of the reviews, I didn't have high expectations of the book. I am so glad that didn't put me off giving it a listen.
I loved it! It is a great listen to start you off before watching the TV show, or if you are interested in 11s mums story.
