Heroes don’t wear collars. They do now.

After the Spellbound tragedy, Fenwick University is “safer” than ever—rebuilt lawns, scrubbed stone, and blue-uniformed liaison agents every fifty feet. The survivors they call “heroes” are now assets—especially Marcus Shaw, a rare amplifier whose power can supercharge (or sabotage) any spell on campus. Agent Miriam Harrison has one rule for the Spellbound Five: train hard, obey harder, and remember who owns your power.

When bugged dorms, signature-sniffers, and “mandatory” assignments turn classes into interrogations, Marcus and his girls—Elena the disavowed heiress, Sage the resonance theorist, and Kira the caged predator—start playing a deeper game. The federally managed Labyrinth is their arena; secrets and surveillance are the price of freedom. As Marcus learns his amplification can crack any ward—or leash a city—the choice is brutal: accept the leash…or become the monster they can’t cage.

Expect:

• Dark academia atmosphere, government oversight, and razor-edged politics

• A high-heat, why-choose/reverse-harem romance (18+) with slow-burn to scorching payoffs

• Found-family squad goals, heists in an enchanted Labyrinth, and a morally gray handler you’ll love to hate

• Spies, secrets, surveillance—and a rebellion that starts with a smile at the camera

Why, when you are young and gifted older folks either wants to suppress you or leash and control you? Am glad the bonded five decided to forge their own paths and didn't give anyone the power to control them. They found solutions to problems that others been trying their whole lives to solve. That caused grudges, but such is life.

This book really pulled me in with its mix of magical academy life with a little secrets, spying, and complicated relationships. I liked how the book was build on the first book while raising the stakes and making the characters feel more connected to the bigger mystery ahead. The romance adds plenty of tension without taking over the plot, and the magical world kept me curious about what would happen next going on. I especially enjoyed the twists and the feeling that there was always another secret waiting to surface. Overall it was a fun and amazing read that left me wanting to see where the characters go next.

I’m always drawn to a fantasy that mixes magic with a little chaos, and this one definitely caught my attention. I loved the whole “heroes who are now basically government property” situation—because apparently saving the world comes with paperwork, surveillance, and zero personal space. Marcus and his girls sound like such a fun, messy found family, and the enchanted Labyrinth, secret missions, and rebellion had me completely intrigued. It gives very much dark academia meets magical college drama, with just enough romance, sass, and “okay, but what could possibly go wrong?” energy to keep me turning the pages.
