Story
Agreeing to meet Ryker Lockhart is my first mistake. Rich, handsome, and more than intriguing, he thinks blackmail will bend me to his will. But he’s wrong. I may have done a few things that weren’t exactly legal, but I have my own reasons for that. The last thing I’m going to do is let some high-powered divorce attorney come into my life, have my body, and rule my heart. Not to mention ruin everything that I have carefully built in just a short amount of time.

Story
Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break. Until one day it did. Then, out of the blue, a new letter arrived. A scathing one - one with eight years of pent-up anger. I had no choice but to finally come clean as to why I stopped writing. Griffin forgave me, and somehow we were able to rekindle our childhood connection.

It was the summer of my life. I’d met the guy of my dreams. Unfortunately, he was the son of my uppity employer - and very much off-limits. But Gavin was a rebel. He knew his mother would disown him if she found out about us; in his eyes, we just had to be careful. He never treated me as his mother did - like hired help. Instead, Gavin put me on a pedestal and loved me harder than I’d ever been loved in my life.

Story
It started out like any normal day. Then the fender bender happened. The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth. Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway - one I was excited about. Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident.

Grant Malone is not the reason I moved back to Sunnyville - at least that’s what I tell myself. Yet, those parting words I said to him back in third grade ring in my ears every time a towns-person brings up one of the Malone boys. I thought time had healed my wounds. I was wrong. Nothing could have prepared me for how I felt when I finally saw him again. Twenty years does a lot to turn a boy into a man. One who hits all my buttons - sexy, funny, attractive, and a police officer.

It's a long story, but I messed up at work. Big time. To earn back the trust of my boss, I promised to save one of our magazines. Yep. That Hot Dad contest you've seen advertised all over the place was my idea. And if I'm successful, if I'm able to increase our online readership, then I get a shot at my dream job. But the one thing I never expected to happen, happened: Contestant number 10, Grayson Malone. Hello, Mr. Difficult. And did I mention sexy as hell? Unfortunately he knows me. The old me, anyway. I remind him of before. Of the woman who broke his heart....

When I first encountered Ford Donovan, I had no idea who he was...well, other than the obvious. Young, gorgeous, successful, smart. Did I mention young? If I did, it bears repeating. Ford Donovan was too young for me. Let’s back up to how it all started. My best friend decided I needed to start dating again. So, without my knowledge, she set up a profile for me on a popular dating site - one that invited men ages 21 to 27 to apply for a date.

Zane Phillips mistook me for his dog walker. It shouldn’t surprise me that the man with a suit more expensive than my rent would assume that I was there to serve him. The positive? I put him in his place. The negative? I missed my job interview because of it. Now I find out he’s a rich Australian entrepreneur, and he wants to make up for tanking my interview. Yes, he’s impossibly hot - but he’s also an arrogant jackass - so...no thanks. But after a little white lie I tell spirals out of control, I’m somehow offered the chance to play Zane’s girlfriend to help promote his new dating website....

It should be the most shocking news I’d ever gotten - my boyfriend is getting married. Okay, technically he’s my ex-boyfriend. Two months ago he decided he wanted a break. I still thought he was my happily-ever-after. On any other day, knowing he was gone for good would be the worst thing that could possibly happen. But not today. Because not only is my boyfriend getting married - his bride is my best friend. And they’ve sent me an invitation. There’s no way I’m going to attend. I don’t care if it’s in beautiful Scotland. Nothing and no one could convince me.

I spent 20 years waiting for Trent Hennington to open his eyes and see me. But it was all for nothing. He chose to keep himself guarded and let me walk away, proving that my time and efforts were wasted. I’m done being invisible. It’s time to move on. A single dance sets my new reality into motion, and I welcome it. After all, Cooper Townsend is perfect. He’s kind, sexy, and attentive - everything a girl could want. I thought I got it right this time. That my heart could mend, and I would be happy. Apparently, some things really are just too hard to walk away from.

Story
I’m not looking for love. I’m definitely not even interested in dating. But when I first see the handsome stranger singing on stage and our eyes lock, it feels like kismet. For seven blissful days, we fall into an intoxicating romance. Until one night when I learn just how forbidden we are....
Summary
One night. That's all it was supposed to be...
Reeling from the sudden loss of her sister, Haddie Montgomery has sworn off relationships. All she wanted from Beckett Daniels was a sexy distraction to help her escape her pain for just a little while. There weren't supposed to be any strings attached - so why can't she shake the memory of that unforgettable night from her thoughts? Or the taste of his kiss from her lips?
No matter how hard Haddie tries to forget about him, Becks relentlessly tries to prove that she should start living for today. But she is determined to avoid romantic commitment, and she can always use her ex-boyfriend's reappearance to help snuff out the slow burn within her that Becks has sparked.
Or will fate force her to realize that this kind of connection doesn’t come along very often and a chance at love is worth the risk?

Beautiful & Emoitional
Would you consider the audio edition of Slow Burn to be better than the print version?
Yes, I am so glad I have the audio edition. The emotion in Haddie's voice just tour at your heart. I have never cried so much over one book before.
What other book might you compare Slow Burn to and why?
From the books I have read this book stands out and addresses an issue that should be out and all of the sorrow, pain, and love makes this book powerful
What does Kelly Ashton and Abel Cantwell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Kelly & Abel bring the emotion to the surface, I probably would never have finished the book because it is really hard to read through tears.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Time is precious, waste it wisely
Any additional comments?
I loved the Driven series and I am so glad we got a look at Becks and Haddie love the all.
Thank you for your talant and writing a beautiful and emotional story.

Engrossing yet frustrating
The story managed to capture my attention span which quite a few books failed to do lately. The focus was the evil disease of cancer. Haddie was so taken over by first the devastation it left on her family and the effects it left on family and friends as with what happened to her brother-in-law. Then her battle to face it. As a result I found very very few things to like about her. Yes. I understand her situation, but the lies on top of lies in an effort to separate herself from others and in particular from Beck got to me. I got the impression all she cared about was escape into sex and it did not matter with whom either) . To me, Beck was too good for her. She came off as a selfish bitch. I did not feel the love between them. It was just sexual chemistry.

WAY TOOOOOOOO MUCH!!
I LOVE K Bromberg's Driven series, so it breaks my heart to say, There was way toooooo much drama, too many tears, too much back and forth. She'd give in and then turn him away. I like Becks but Jeesch! This was just cruel. I get the issues she is facing, heartbreaking. But MY GOD WOMAN! Let someone in. Too many secrets, to many lies, too much total self-centeredness. I get it, I do, but this is not how to go about it. The epilogue was good. There were parts I likes, mostly when they were actually together, but that was so little of the time it was a return for me.

Agonizingly slow, painful to try to finish
I couldn’t even finish this book. I love K. Bromberg, but this book was a long agonizing game of hard to get. Haddie spends the entire book debating in her head whether to allow herself to open up to the “man of her dreams”. She has valid reasons of hesitating, losing someone close to you and fearing you might have cancer as well are serious issues. But everything would’ve been solved if she just talked to Becks. But she won’t. And no matter how rude she is to him or how little she talks to him, he’s somehow still madly in love with her and he keeps coming back. He would be a great character. Someone I’d love to meet in real life, but that’s the thing, no one ever would be THAT patient to be treated like crap, given nothing, and keep coming back-just seems unrealistic.
The entire 3/4 of the book are the internal struggle of Haddie and whether she should or shouldn’t. So I couldn’t. I couldn’t finish this book, I didn’t have any attachment to the characters or even enjoy the story line.

A Resounding "Meh"
I chose this title as part of an Audible 2-for-1 sale. Most of the other romances were numbers 8 or 9 in series, and this was the closest to being a standalone (characters from the first installation in series are featured as secondaries here). The female MC creates all her own problems by lying to everyone in her life, even when specifically asked not to try to "protect" people from the truth. The male MC is less annoying characterization-wise, but Mr. Cantwell's narration verges on smarmy at times. The dialogue between the male MC and his best friend is often misogynistic, even in subtle ways ("What FEMALE has a plain black phone case?!" >> said with lots of genuine disbelief that women can have accessories that don't drip with glitter, I guess?). Sex scenes are explicit but inelegant... I never believed the two MCs were in love -- just in lust.

Help
What disappointed you about Slow Burn?
I have enjoyed K. Bromberg's driven series books. So I decided to invest in the others. I have had a hard time getting through the story as the characters spend most of the book contemplating or in a self conversation. The book drags and I was constantly wondering when will this be over. I think the story line would be fine if there was an editor to cut half the book.
Any additional comments?
My 5 star rating in this driven series was Raced and also the first book Driven.

Boring
Would you try another book from K. Bromberg and/or Kelly Ashton and Abel Cantwell ?
K.Bromberg? Yes. I read the Driven Series w/ Rylee and Colton and I loved it. However, this book was so boring and cheesy. I skipped many parts after falling asleep every night trying to finish it. I will not give up on the author, but this book just didn't do it for me. Kelly Ashton as Haddie gets a pass, but Abel Cantwell as Becks...not so much. His voice was too mature for the cheesy dialogue. Big disappointment. Sorry. :-(
Would you ever listen to anything by K. Bromberg again?
Absolutely!
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No
Any additional comments?
I may have enjoyed the story more if I had read it instead of listening to it.

Exciting Roller Coaster Ride
Loved the Driven series and I'm not a race car fan. I wasn't sure about this one, but so glad I bought it. Great story line. Two great deserving people with so much to give. And Wow Beckett was the best guy ever. Love a man who knows what he wants and goes after it. Oh and sticks around when the going gets tough. I think this had some of the sweetest lines and scenes ever. The audio was wonderful too. Way to go K. Bromberg!!
You do not have to have read the Driven series to read this book. But why would you NOT fall in love with Colton too??
