Summary

Behind the wheel, racing champion Zander Donavan is at the top of his game. But after too much excess in his personal life, he's forced to step away. He needs to accomplish something all on his own - outside of his famous father's shadow.

Getty Caster is running away from the abuse that clouds her past. She thinks she's found the perfect escape - until she discovers a stranger in the beachside cottage she was promised. He's undeniably sexy, but she's there to heal. Alone.

Before long, though, fighting with each other turns into fighting their attraction. And giving in to desire sets off a chain reaction that has their pasts colliding. With an unexpected love on the line, can they overcome the fallout to build a future?

Critic reviews

"K. Bromberg makes you believe in the power of true love. As she tells it, with a little hard work, a little trust, a lot of faith, anything is possible. Down Shift made me a believer." (Audrey Carlan, New York Times best-selling author)

AN EXCELLENT BUILD TO A MOVING & TENDER LOVE STORY

Zander and Getty are two broken people who are forced to share the same house.. but, even though they each wanted to be left alone to heal and to purge the demons from their pasts, they slowly let the other in.. into their secrets, into their beds, into their lives.. and finally into their hearts.

Zander was a tortured soul.. damaged by his childhood and he's running from one tragic event that happened to him when he was 7 yrs old and Getty had run away from her controlling manipulative Father and an even worse ex. Somehow Zander, the gorgeous sexy Racecar Driver, had to tread carefully around Getty and Getty, the vulnerable yet determined Bartender, tried hard to fight the sexual attraction - attraction and feelings that she'd never felt before. Despite their rocky start.. they were there for one another, healed each other and found their HEA together.

This is a well paced emotion filled dual POV romance with sex, passion, heartache, humor, angst and drama along the way and it's got its share of touching, sweet and romantic scenes too. An awesome story and the great narration topped off this intense and addictive listen.

Worth a credit? K. Bromberg is a trusted Author for me and her books are always an auto download.. so YES creditworthy.

another great book in this series!

I really liked this very sweet love story. not a whole lot of drama but enough to add interest. too bad there aren't a whole lot of Coltons and Zanders out in the real world! I thought the narrators did a good job but I've listened to quite a few with Joe Arden, always good. Love K Bromberg. I'll be watching for more. I really appreciated the length of the book. A little more bang for my credit!

Blood, Band Aids, Scissors

Past: We meet Zander in book 1 of the Driven Series. As a child Zander was found next to his dead mother putting band aids on her trying to stop her bleeding. He was sent to the boys home ran by Riley. Zander liked race cars, so of course, Colton became his role model.

Present: Zander is now a professional race car driver working for Colton. Zander receives a box that contains items about his mother and it sends him into a downward spiral. He won't talk to anyone about what's bothering him. Colton tells Zander he's out-of-control and is fired from driving until he works out his issues. Zander makes a deal with his friend, Smitty, to stay at his cabin for a few months and complete renovations in exchange for anonymity.

Getty is running from an abusive past. Her husband was mentally abusive and cheated on her. She was able to divorce him without his signature and now wants to start a new life. A friend of Getty's, Darcey, told Getty she can stay in the cabin.

Getty comes home from work and undresses to get in the shower but much to her surprise there's a man in the shower. So the first time they meet their both naked in the bathroom. This is their story...

I really enjoyed this story and have already listened to it a few times. It was fun to catch up with Colton and Riley; and to find out how Zander's life turned out.

This book can be a stand alone but Driven is a really good trilogy you're missing out on.

K. Bromberg is a very talented writer. I adore her Driven Trilogy and Zander's story.

Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell gave an entertaining performance. They are two of my favorite performers.

Absolutely worth the credit/$$.

Beautiful love story. Both escaping the past and trying to heal in their own way. Made better together with the chance meeting.

Way to Long😐

I feel like this story could of been told in less than 15 hours.. It was ok I loved how they redeemed each other. Helped each other come out of the darkness. Not a real big fan of Maxine Mitchell I think she over pronounces her words. Joe is always great.

So Good!

Race car driver Zander Donavan, the adopted son of renown Race Car diving Champion Colton Donavan, thought he had dealt with the death of his biological mother for the last time until a mysterious box shows up on his doorstep. The very first item inside through his world into a tailspin, sending him to the brink of Destruction. In an effort to get his life back on track and to deal with the contents of the box, he escapes to an island far away from the distractions of his family and all the chaos he had created. But there seems to be a snag in his plan, namely the woman who was already stained in the house he's tasked to renovate.
Getty's life was never perfect, but her dreams has been completely shattered the day she married Ethan. In an attempt to regain her freedom she secretly files for divorce and runs as far away as she can in hopes to hide from the backlash until the divorce is final and she can start a new life. Her mom's oldest friend gives her a place to stay while she navigates her Newfound freedom on her own for the first time ever. 3 months into her journey, she runs into a snag. The snag is in the form of a man in her shower.
And so the battle begins, each with their own agenda to regain something they've lost or never had and they have to do this while learning to live together in this quaint little house on this island.
This was a very emotional and trying story for these characters, and for the reader - me. I could feel every note of anxiety, every emotional twist and turn, and every touch between these two characters. It's been awhile since a book has taken me on such a journey. I laughed, I cried, and swooned throughout this incredible book.
Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell we're the perfect choices for Xander and Getty. The way they portrayed these two brought them to life for me. It was a job very well done. I highly, highly recommend reading and listening to this book.

Best storyline of the Driven Series,

although I enjoyed Riley and Colton's storyline, Zander and Getty's story truly speaks to the heart. Two deeply and emotionally wrecked individuals find friendship and love. they support one another and help each other overcome their deep rooted struggles. I whole heartedly recommend this book
