Loved the narration from Meredith McGlinchey, who brings the characters, drama, humour and action to your ears.

Jo has now made lieutenant now. Marrying Rhys the love of her life, and dare she say it life is good. Both support each other Rhys is now going back to being a doctor after working as a coroner. All Jo has to worry about is paper work and some stabbings, nothing is going interfere with the wedding plans. That is until the FBI ask for help to catch a serial killer. Can the killer be caught before the wedding or will this killer slow down the plans. The only clues he is calling himself Slenderman, the same name of the game that Rhys brother plays. Hold on to your hats.

This is the third book featuring detective heroine Jo (only call her Josephine if you want to annoy her) and wealthy, wannabe paediatrician (now her fiance) Rhysian called Rice by his brain-damged brother and it gives away some events from earlier books - so best to read in order if you don't want spoliers. The main police case involves a multi-national and multi-state serial killer so other detectives are brought in, but Jo cracks the case. There are several action scenes and there is jeopardy and conflict. The least of Jo's conflicts is her mother trying to press a prissy, pink dress into the wedding planning. There is also conflict with her fiance, but this is a romance, so readers will know how this ends. There is a trigger warning that this book is explicit and Jo is a woman who knows what she wants and will get her own way.
We do learn more of the backstory of the man Jo calls her "biodad" and this is relevant to the resolution. I think the solution and application of justice was a bit too convenient and too few clues in the story.

The narrator stumbled on some of the technical words and was inconsistent in voicing the Scotsman who became part of the investigative team. Emotions and emphasis were appropriately conveyed with distinction between male and femal characters.
